I built one of these 4x4 router tables and practically use it every weekend.

You can buy the plans for $100 and/or you can buy the plans plus the more custom parts pre-made for about $500.

The rest of the bits can be found through local hardware sources (Home Depot or Lowes) and online. The forum has lots of people with tips and tricks for building and running the machine.

Forum describes a number of cool mods too.

People have reported building them on the cheap for under $3000 to around $6000 depending on motors, drive electronics, options, etc.

The design is continually evolving.

Hi cscow & mo fuzz

Sorry but I've spent the last week in an internet black hole (Shell Harbour, south of Woollongong, NSW :p )

I've definitly been looking at the Joe's machines and intend on basing my machine in it. There is the issue of the non metric thing but this is easily solvable. The thing I love about the amature boat building scene it that we will happily build a $3000 machine to make a $300 part and still think it's a good deal. I'm looking at the Oatley Electronic driver kits and fitting them to a Joe's base but the stepper motors are the missing link I was after info on. Anyway, I'm charging on and I'll have an update soon....

It IS a good deal, Jethrow.

One can make lots of $300 parts with that $3000 machine :D
