In mixed fleet coastal racing where 140 boats are on the startline and not one of them are exactly the same, handicap results are the best judge of how well a boat and crew have performed in any one race.
We'd like to congratulate the two major handicap winners in this fleet:
19-year old Harrison McKenzie (pictured, left) designed and built TABOO, the winner on handicap in the multihull fleet, with some help from his father, launched it recently, and this was their first major race. The Sandspit based boat sailed steadily but conservatively, to finish strongly at 2225hrs, comfortably taking the race away on a corrected time of 9 hours and 51 minutes. SANGA NA LANGA finished second on handicap, and MAGIQUE placed third.
Thanks philstar, I needed a reminder of why I bought a trimaran!, nostalgic too,a symmetrical spinnaker, last time I saw one of those there was a dinosaur in the back ground!
