Also, if a couple is not on speaking terms, they don't have to pass in the companionway or look at each other across the salon. Not as good for sulking as a multihull, tho. That's good, keeps people from noticing that the other side of the boat is sinking.......
Lunch? No way, you might get crumbs on the deck.Anyone wanna go for a sail on my 80' daysailor? I'll bring lunch.

That boat just doesn't look like that much fun. The helm has to stand the entire time. You could put it on autopilot but the only seating area has poor visibility for keeping watch. And a "fully crewed vessel" is something that just doesn't interest me.Anyone wanna go for a sail on my 80' daysailor? I'll bring lunch.

Had the honour of racing "against" her in a few Med regattas. "Against" being a lose term, the from the state of every race, the fleet simply witnessed her transom disappearing into the distance. Looked better with a varnished cabin.
... however kiwi Jim Young designed and built (to the best of my knowledge) the world's first canting keeler in the 1950s - https://www.sail-world.com/Australia/Fiery-Cross-NZs-first-Canting-Keel-Boat/-72940?source=googleShifting ballast was not legal here in Aotearoa so “fair play men” were exchanged on competing yachts as observers.

Townson 40', Caper. A lovely sloop with mahogany interior. She could do with a hull and decks makeover. 'Magnolia' doesn't do her justice.Again nowhere to put a cup of tea or the sandwiches.
A more modest example of yacht but it too has storage issues.
