Coolboats to admire

It would have been cheaper for him to buy a large barge and build a condo on it. A couple of people have done this in Boston Harbor and it actually looks really nice. It's like a house "boat" but it isn't going anywhere and stays in their slip. A nice solid rectangular foundation.

Townson 40', Caper. A lovely sloop with mahogany interior. She could do with a hull and decks makeover. 'Magnolia' doesn't do her justice.
Agree Sail re the Magnolia but I would spend all day admiring the bilge so it would not bother me…

I've fallen in love. But at my age, it'd be like trying to date a 20 year old!

Check out, Ronaki. Such a sweet looker, from the 1950's board of the legendary, Bert Woollacott.

Interesting construction detail where the ribs of which there are few pass over the longitudinals of which there are many.
As to falling in love the old woody Woolacott would be far cheaperer to service and maintain than the 20 year old.:)

Interestingly Prissy, she is cold moulded in three Kauri skins, according to the construction description. The original boat would have likely been carvel planked. She'd be pretty light displacement for her form, I'm thinking.

One of Dick's most lovely designs - I had the good fortune to visit his office a few times while he was drawing this one. Definitely some Herreschoff "Rozinante" influence.
LFH may have been an influence for the construction plan. He developed a system of "longitudinal" construction.

I don’t think so. They were on a mooring hoisting jibs for a bit every time I looked over as I was unloading stuff from my boat.
