Coolboats to admire

Every time I see a Pearson Triton or Vanguard or an Alberg 30, or an early Rhodes like the Swiftsure or the 29, or an early Bill Tripp, like the Seafarer 31, or the Pearson Renegade, I get all twitchy. And I drool a little. And I start thinking that maybe I should buy one. Or two (because they do tend to be cheap). But ugh, I do not like how they sail, and there is no way I'm giving up my walk-through transom. I do really love to see them though. At dock, underway, on poppits in the yard; whatever.

Once during one of my many boat searches, I came across a Triton for sale. I showed it to Mrs. Hukilau, and her response was "it looks like Popeye's boat". And not in a good way. I resolved then to not include her in any boat shopping ever again.
This guy’s boat?

Ah, so you just fill your aft 'state room' with the stuff that used to go into cockpit lockers. Brilliant!

I think that may be in the bow…I spent a few minutes trying to figure out the layout, and a few more contemplating how much my back would hurt lifting that engine out through the hatch. Or what I would ding dragging it through the cabin…

Well... if you had cockpit lockers you wouldn't have that aft stateroom so it's kind of a wash.
Except that a locker has a top opening lid (often full length). You can see and reach almost everything in it.

A quarter berth has only one small way in, like a rabbit warren. :)

The pigeon hole quarter berth is not uncommon here in the home of the AC but not the racing.
Here is a cracker Alan Wright design that has been on the market for far too many moons which has two double grunters and only what appears to be a gas locker in the cockpit.

I like it. Amazing, it will sleep 8 in 36'. I'd AirB&B it.
