Progressive seems to want ~$1300 for 35k declared value. I have home and car with them. Excellent credit and no claims. Seems high based on what people are reporting here.

I'm roughly half that (assuming that's an annual rate) and +4x declared value. State Farm. Everytime I've gotten a quote through USAA/Progressive, it's been disappointing. It might be time to go insurance shopping.

I have USAA/Progressive. They were great in a claim and didn't even raise my rate. I have motorcycle and one car with them, as well. However, their policies specify no racing (not that I do anymore). I bought a new boat, so no survey required. I thought the price was fair (but my boat is not huge like a 970.

I paid $400 in '03 for my F27 ($45K) with the geographic limits. Shit, let me insure it at that rate! Reserving the right to haul it out of harm's way.

Muth'r Trucker. I've been working on my boat for the past 2+ months in my shop. I had one of the solar panels in the up position (to scavenge what little diffused light I have in my shop in the afternoons). Pulled the boat out for wet sanding. You know the rest. That's $160 of stainless tube down the drain. I hate when I do stupid shit. I'm rebuilding them, but was going to use much of the now damaged tubing. Flexible panel is okay, but those are being replaced anyway. Damnit.

Hey Eric!! It's been a scramble this Spring to get the boat ready. Scheduled to splash on Friday. We secured a spot at The Dalles Marina. We're going to stay local (The Dalles to Cascade Locks) this year. I thought we'd be able to come see you this Summer, but perhaps next Summer. However, you have an open invitation to come play here (except the week of July 4 as our dance card is full). Yes, planning on a month in the Bahamas March 2023. You probably already saw this, but I made some new jewelry for the boat (plus other mods to the mast raising sytem)
Dang, looks like you could lift the boat with those. I'm impressed with your fabrication skill. I do wonder about that stuff but the originals on my 1996 C/F 31 work every time. From what I've seen trusting Ian's original engineering and follow up is well documented.

Thanks Eric. My guess is if it was up to him, he would have designed something way different for the 970 (alumn double spreader with furling jib) than what Corsair did. Something like he used on his later 32'/33' boats. I love the Farrier setup. Anywho, I hope my mast raising woes are over. It's been a real drag.

Some good insight from Team Pestou on pushing an F-24 MKII hard in big ocean waves, damaging his boat with log strikes, singlehanded sailing plus lots of other good stuff. Video is 27 minutes.
Interestingly there was very little damage to the external hull, likely because the edges of the production boats have pretty thick resin. The damage was only readily apparent with the mouse fur peeled back, which revealed what appears to be a sub-standard tabbing job of the structural frame to the hull, with some resin voids etc. I think all production F-boats that are sailed hard could benefit from some inspection and possibly reinforced tabbing, especially adjacent to the forward beam mounts.

I had a tiny leak at that location after 10 years of sailing my F242. I concluded the issue was trailering since that lower strut doesn't normally see much load (ama loads supposed to transmit via aka/vaka connection which, if shimmed correctly, do a good job). In his case, I think a log might have hit the lower strut.

Pretty sure you got the upper and lower struts confused...
Upper strut is the one only needed for folding, the lower one is taking all the upwards load during sailing.

I don't think the cockpit is too different between the two but it's definitely a MK2...

mk2 dash has the alterations from the Seawind guys, new deck from the cockpit forward.
Pop up hatch etc.
same amas and hull.

Maybe there was a mk1.5? straight bow or raked?

So are there essentially four variants?
- F-24: Original boat, fixed mast
- F-24 MK II: Added rotating mast
- Dash 750: Updates as you noted above
- Sprint 750: Smaller “cabin”, rotating mast
I think Pestou has the pop-up hatch.
