They always make it seem like Nancy is at a command center with headphones on with a bank of monitors in front of her, coordinating the N.G. on timing and tactics and ultimately making the decision to deny, (14 times!!!1!) support. Try to keep up. I have already said that I will not defend the unlawful acts of those that got violent or illegally entered the Capitol. They have most all been charged and many (most?) are still in jail awaiting a hearing.
The "legal and lawful peaceful protest" is what Trump asked for. Many kept it that way. Obviously some did not and they are rightfully paying for it. Trump never asked for violence or breaking and entering.

He did more than that, he sent two tweets egging the crowd on. Specifically targeted VP Pence, which seems like conspiracy and incitement. If Trump had thought ahead to putting a few of his loyalist SS agents on Pence's security detail, it would have been very different.

[edit] IMO Irving was trying a CYA with that last sentence. Even Trump knew that this would be an event that would likely attract a large crowd (no law against peacefully demonstrating outside the Capitol, which is what Trump asked for). And Trump and others knew or should have known the potential for that crowd to get out of control. Irving was lying about the intelligence reports.
