Dark Hulled Ship... You are aware, Mr Boombastic, that Maersk Ships are almost a Powder Blue. Could have been an another Carrier all together. Perhaps a Liberian Ship smuggling what ever they smuggle with no lights on claiming to be a Maersk Ship.

Guys I think this is either a Troll or one of our own as I can't imagine Reid having such a loyal fan to think what we say is actually important.

Sorry mate, ur wrong. Been over the 1000days site and found what I had quoted. I dont give a damn abouy Reid and Co. and simply reading this thread for my own entertainment. And, sorry, English is not my native language, I wanted to say that I appreciate what you guys are doing. now, seems this was not coming through.

Look, Reid doesn't exactly take the best care of his fine craft. He has an old 20' long bowsprit that was on the boat during earlier voyages from which he flew a nice small hanked on jib. After wanting roller furling for over 20 years he finally gets a drum and has his supporters at Doyle provide a large rollerfurled jib that looks to be easily twice the size of the previous jib. Compare the new sail with the small jib in old photos of Anne. The only way roller furling works is if you have enough tension on the halyard so Reid mounts the tack near the end of the 20'sprit and cranks it on. The boat bobs around NY harbor on roidian harbor excursions and nothing happens. Now back at sea after several days the physical forces conspire with bobstay and/or sprit weakness and it lets go.

Might have happened near Maersk freighter. Master sees slow moving/nonmoving radar target or even sees Anne with headsail flogging and hails on VHF. No problem so he sails on.

But Reid knows his boat and the sea better than anyone. The last thing his ego and public persona could suffer would be admitting such a failure or miscalculation so let's pin it on the freighter.

Too bad the folks at Doyle probably wouldn't be too interested in discussing the original sail and the replacement they sold or donated.

one of the (many) things that has really been bothering me is this:

is it really a good idea to eat fish out of another fish's guts? it just doesn't seem like a good idea to me. obviously these two dumbasses claim to have done it and they didn't die yet...but damn! when i've been offshore (for deliveries) we often fish. and we have caught fish that had fish in their guts, but we have only used them to bait the lines to catch more fish. also, wouldn't bringing a book on offshore fishing or fishing while cruising have been prudent? we've got one and bring it with when we are planning to troll while delivering a boat. the info in these books is unbelievably helpful, from recommendation on lures, setting up lines, even what fish you should and shouldn't eat and how to clean them properly.

to me it is just another piece of evidence on how woefully unprepared reid was for this voyage. i mean really! who depends on fish for their sustenance yet doesn't bother to learn how to catch them before leaving for a 1000 days?

Does anyone know someone that works at Lloyd's of London? Most all vessels of that type are insured through Lloyd's. The ship's captain would have had to report to Lloyd's and notify them that there was an accident.

Elle, this is Reid we're talking about, and the main reason for this particular forum is because of how ill-prepared he was for this voyage and what terrible shape his boat is in (a couple minor details: it leaks, it has about a foot of barnacles and 'fuzz' on the bottom -- which are probably keeping the tub from disintegrating :lol: ), so for him to have anything logical like a book on fishing would be so unnecessary for him...remember, he knows everything. Way back when, Sayonara was wishing she had a book on the heavens so she could learn what stars she was looking at. What fucking sailor who is going around the world doesn't have a map of the skies? They have fois gras but no books on fishing! And their life raft is below dack wrapped in saran wrap or whatever! And the three fish - they just ate them a couple days ago so maybe they're puking their brains out today.
