COVID Self Diagnosis

Well, that experience turned out to be Influenza A and there's no way I'd want to go through that again. That was rough.

But COVID finally arrived at our doorstep last week. I tested positive last Thursday and again yesterday. But if this is really COVID, Influenza A is saying, "Hold my beer!"

Slight fever for a couple of days, slight cough, some cold-like symptoms and by yesterday I was out of the woods. Today the sinuses are a bit stuffy. That's it.

One thing I will say however, is I slept like a baby that whole time. But now that I'm on the mend, I can't sleep. It's 4AM and I'm wide awake after only an hour sleep.

I self diagnosed COVID before the test was negative. Turned out worse than that, viral gut infection.

A week later, 3 kg lighter and still not eating ... anyone know where I can get some COVID instead?

Influenza has tried to kill me twice…

I’m curious if I’ve had non-symptomatic covid, highly doubt that I’ve avoided it, especially given a high schooler in the house and a spouse who has symptomatic covid.

Is it true the antibody tests no longer work if you’re vaxx’ed?

I've practically lost my voice post-COVID. I've never smoked a cigarette in my life but I have Marge Simpson's sister's voice now.

There seems to be a "forever cough" going around the world.
not directly related to covid, harsh dry bark like croupe. Sometimes dry, sometimes not.
My daughter's has it for months, I've had it for months, people at work have had it for months.
and I was talking to a friend in greece, she's had it for months and "everyone" on the island has it. No other symptoms.
Xrays show nothing, sputum tests show nothing but "normal bugs"
Doctors seem to think it's a combination of reduced immune systems from years of reducing our exposure to bugs and the wet humid weather, higher spoor count etc.

Cure?
Time.

My wife and I had Covid starting in early January. I had cough, fever, massive drainage, dead flat in bed and 3-weeks later - after having some of the most complex and intriguing dreams - no covid but still disorganized thoughts, exhaustion and sleep disturbances.

My wife lost the ability to taste and to swallow food got progressively worse. Literally NO food for two weeks. Still exhausted and weak, but eating a bit now. Pretty sure it would have been not good if she hadn't been vaxxed.

Covid sucks.

Our friends in Canberra used to talk about the "30 day cough" years before covid. We got it once on a trip. Not due to covid isolation depleted immune systems if that is even a thing.

How do you know? You must be good because non of our doctors seem to know.
Sorry about your brain fog. Read again. "Years before covid." Like 2015. Back in 2015 the good old days there was no iso or masking and people got colds, upper respiratory infections, bronchitis, all the time. Remember?

I have this, currently 12 weeks post-covid. I had pretty severe covid symptoms and ended up on paxlovid, which seemed to work. I have had on-going sinus problems ever since. I was almost over it, then took a trip to the warm, moist tropics and two days later was just as bad as the beginning.

I tried a course of antibiotics (easily obtained over the counter in the tropics) in case the sinus infection was bacterial but it didn't clear it.

My current self-diagnosis (good luck getting a doctor to take a look at it) is a long-term viral infection in the sinuses. I hope it goes away eventually. I sing in a band and it has made that very difficult if not impossible - luckily no gigs coming up soon.

Yikes, sorry to hear all of these stories. As far as I know, I have yet to contract covid, like just a couple of others I know, everyone else has had at least one bout, but nobody with "long covid". Triple vaccinated should help me, but either genetics, or luck, or asymptomatic, but I no longer take any precautions and have taken lots of plane flights and been in lots of other congested situations the past two years.

I had a bug back in November, which turned into a nasty cough. Repeatedly tested negative for Covid, and really didn’t have Covid symptoms. Coughed so hard that all the muscles around the ribs hurt for days. Pounded NyQuil day and night, and still couldn’t sleep, which I believe made the cough worse. Finally gave in, and went to the doctor. He gave me Benzonatate 200mg. Got home and took one, 30 minutes later the cough had reduced to almost nothing! Took an afternoon nap, and then got a full night’s sleep!

I had a similar sinus/cough in the November before Covid - felt like absolute dogshit however I was responsible for picking up someone at the airport for the get together at their ranch in the middle of Texas so I went and tried to be as sociable as possible That night one of the group said why don't you try this so I took 1 hit of some hash and within minutes I felt great with no symptoms.
I was up grooving for a couple hours while everyone else went to sleep. Not a recommendation just an observation. Still Covid free and not been sick since. Had all the shots and still alive and kicking. Drug and illness free ever since.
