I traded emails with the owner. It’s a 1956 Shock that’s been in the family since 1956. Been stored sometimes outdoors but covered. Water damage? I recommended that the owner post on Thistle class web site. Surely worth saving (but not by me!)Old D&M Thistle-
Maybe too far gone but it looks like it's all there with cool vintage trailer. Maybe somebody could save it.

I know Windmills pretty well and I saw some similarity but of course I knew it wasn't a Windmill. Thanks for clarifying.Looks like a US-1 which is related to Windmill.
@sailwriter should be able to tell more. I think @DaveK had one.
Yep... US1... Very popular florida boat. Not a bad boat until you scoop up a ton of water from heeling too much.Looks like a US-1 which is related to Windmill.

you know Ron?! I've sailed with him a lot the past two years, and have learned quite a bit too from his boundless store of sailing knowledge. He has a fabulous collection of stories as well. I do remember him talking a lot about the US-1 and what a great boat they were, I didn't know he was the national champion though! If you ask US-1 might know.
Perhaps check with Ron McHenry. He was. National champion when he finished US 1

Well, given that the Windmill sails really well, that’s not a surprise. I don’t think the US1 ever gained serious traction, but I wonder if they did better with the US1 than they would have done being one of several other options for Windmills.I seem to remember that Advance boat builders put out a Windmill that wouldn't measure in.
Rather than trash the mold, they lowered the freeboard and made a few other changes, put a mainail only rig and called it a US 1. Sailed really well.

Looks like somebody started to put a bigger nicer cockpit in it, but stopped after step #2WTF?? Whoever started to chop it into small pieces stopped part way through.
the good news is the remainder can be cut into flat pieces and can go away over a few weeks with the household trash.

That is a M16, note dual rudders, jib tack fitting on the foredeck and mast placement back by the cockpit. There are a lot of reasonable condition M16's around for $500-800 with trailer.Melges...C Scow? I saw this one the other day too. My OCD says give this boat to me with a power washer and I'll bring it back to life. $300 in Cocoa, FL.
Who's down with OCD yeah you know me...
