After your first collision you can make it any color you like. Because there's no chance of ever matching that flake.
Actually?? Flake is super easy to repair. You only need to get close,

You remove all the nearby clear, sprinkle on the flake solution and blend the edges by thinning over a wide area. Then clear coat and polish

It turns out Bill used to sail in Austin. I am working on a transportation solution to get it to Texas.

I'm curious about this process.

I was imagining having to spray this in one coat and get all the angles and colors right in one go.

Are you saying this would be done in 3 coats/layers? Base, flake, clear?

For holes in the boat?? Yes.

Fixing damage on a brand new boat with metal flake supplied by the builder is a super satisfying exoerience. Unlike fixing plain gelcoat,
The patch usually 200.% blends in.

If it is somebody else’s metslflake and you have to figure out how to match it, it is just as hard to match as colored gelcoat.

Maybe the buyer of this 49er will need some parts. Project 49er FX on Ebay and bid is only at $100.69 with seemingly no reserve 49er FX on Ebay
I'm bummed I tried to buy that a month ago when it was first listed and the seller told me he reconsidered selling. Now it's on eBay and I don't have the cash at the moment. I've been trying to track a cheap FX down forever too

Bummer...do you know what it eventually went for? I forgot to watch it and last I had seen it was just over $500.

One of the photos is of the Severn River entrance back when the Navy's submarine antenna towers were still around. That's been... ...15+ years since all but three were taken down? The price is very reasonable if its all there, even if it needs work. SSA's fleet is still active.
FWIW the Star fleet at SSA is no longer a sanctioned class at SSA. I don't think they raced in 2022, and the fleet information is no longer on the SSA web site.

$512 heck of a deal, the paint on the bottom looked rough but I wanted the FX mast those are hard to come by cheap
