I'd be careful of the "bill of sale when you show me it's on your property." Seems like a scam to me...

I was recoring the deck of my S29.1 some years ago. Had the sea hood off, and the companionway slider out, so no real way to lock up boat. Mast was off, deck torn apart, no real concern that someone would steal it.

One afternoon, the doorbell rings, and here is this young gal, maybe early 20s, with all my boat paperwork. (Title, documentation, etc), which her boyfriend had stolen and was running a craiglist ad for the boat...she thought that was wrong, so brought me all the paperwork back. Just a heads up, but I'm very careful with craigslist now. If it smells wrong, it likely is!

Although I later sold the S2 as well as my most recent boat via Craigslist with no issues...

I dunno. I was so surprised, and so taken aback, I didn't even ask her name...

That said, like a woman who stays with a man that beats her...some think they can change them...But I sure hope she did.

My first keelboat was a WL24, bow's too raked.

Maybe a Wilderness 21?

Looks like a wilderness 21 to me too, it's been up on c/l a few times.

Not exactly a proper transaction. But I can see the guy’s motivation to get rid of it. plenty of garbage boats around that aren’t worth enuf to take to the dump. The trailer might be worth something.

Had one of these. Really cool little boat, and a lot of fun in small bays, coves, small lakes, etc. Take a shotgun and go duck hunting. Rows well, sails well, tows easily, rigs quickly.

Great looking little boats I didn't know anything about until recently. Interesting about the different sizes and rig configs. A buddy just bought this one built by Brackley Boats:

There's a few of them on the lake where their summer home is, so he's joining in the fun.

Cheers!

Lotta extremely rare boat on this coast for not a lotta money, wonder what the fuck is wrong with it.
It's essentially a tiller-steered IOR race boat, with old sails. Note that there are very limited interior photos.

The cockpit is not exactly cruiser-friendly. I doubt if much else about it is, either.

Good design, well, built, but barely a dual-purpose boat.

Deja Vu all over again... this boat has been for sale either for a long time (year?) or listed again with the exact same pics.

Great boat. But when the listing includes 40 year old sails, you know it's going to take some money spent to bring it up to scratch. And a 39 footer can soak up a lot of $$ in line & sails and such.

@Diarmuid is this a sistership to yours? Seems like it could be a good buy?

Yep. That's a Ballad 30. Must have been someone importing them on Lake Michigan, cuz that's at least three I know of for sure (including mine, which lived in Chicago & sometimes wintered in Wisconsin). Looks typically tired. On the bottom corner of that access door in photo 4, you'll see ominous signs of varnish kicked off by moisture behind. There's a couple of leak-prone chainplates in that area. How well I know it. Same corner on our boat, which had an even funkier chainplate setup to allow for pilot berths:

That's all gone now.:)

Nice looking boat. I bet the new engine cost what they are asking.
I can't find any info about it, any idea what exactly it is?

This is apparently the Joe Trumbly design Sea Wind 31. The only information I could find was not complimentary about the behavior of the boat under sail.

Apparently, a number of these were owner-finished.

It's a shame if the criticism are valid. It's not a bad-looking boat, and that one looks pretty nicely finished.
