Don't try that shit in Blighty, farmer did that and they made him demolish his house. He'd tried to hide it behind a wall of bails, but that didn't work either. My brothers neighbour in Ireland did the same thing, he is a dairy farmer.
Refused to pay the fines, was eventually sent to jail for a couple of weeks.
Said it was the first holiday he had in twenty years....
House is still there, so he won out in the end.
Gotta say, your strategy is easily the best way to handle the planning department of Kingborough council, did the fine end up costing less than their planning fees?
Same here...Don't try that shit in Blighty, farmer did that and they made him demolish his house. He'd tried to hide it behind a wall of bails, but that didn't work either.
Note that in my case I complied with the planning rules - the property was one where a house was permitted and I observed all the required setbacks etc. They couldn't make me demolish for violation of the planning rules and the structure complied with the Building Code of Australia so all they could do was fine me.Same here...
What's the point of a planning authority if you don't have to comply ?
Sometimes the planning authority is batshit crazy, FKT lives in the same municipality as we do.Same here...

That is a level of craziness that even the French administration would struggle to reach.Note that in my case I complied with the planning rules - the property was one where a house was permitted and I observed all the required setbacks etc. They couldn't make me demolish for violation of the planning rules and the structure complied with the Building Code of Australia so all they could do was fine me.
I'd do it again too.

Oh, I think some of our petty functionaries would be well up in the running for Gold at any Administration Abuse Olympics...That is a level of craziness that even the French administration would struggle to reach.
