Not that I am planning on early retirement any time soon but more than 50 years of careful planning together with a series of shrewd investments should see my retirement funding hold out for many weeks.66 and eyeing up a cessation of working every day for the boatyard. On paper we should only have to eat cat food on an occasional basis but time will tell.
This place has changed but is still fun to hang around. Todays music sucks goats balls. But so far I have my health and my family so, as Metallica so succinctly stated; Nothing else matters. Life goes on until it doesn't.How times have changed, eh?
My retirement plan of marrying a younger bride is working out for me so far...but she is getting sick of working. Not that I am planning on early retirement any time soon but more than 50 years of careful planning together with a series of shrewd investments should see my retirement funding hold out for many weeks.
Going on my 11th year of retirement this past November. Figured I had enough coming from SS, investments, one retirement, and two pensions to withstand the average 1960-2021 inflation rate of 3.8% per year, should easily support my wife who'll probably live well into her 90s - however last years inflation rate has me wondering, how long before we return to the average - if ever. Was hoping this next recession would be a good one, and help correct real estate prices for my grandchildren. How long and deep might the recession be? One of the more pessimistic projections is from the Conference Board, which predicts three straight quarters of negative GDP growth (-0.6%, -1.7%, -0.5%) to start the year. In the fourth quarter, it projects a small rebound — a 1.1% rise in GDP. I was hoping for a longer and more severe recession to correct this OTT housing market, and though realty prices have been falling, not falling near enough. Not that I am planning on early retirement any time soon but more than 50 years of careful planning together with a series of shrewd investments should see my retirement funding hold out for many weeks.
I'm amazed at the amount, that the over 65 crowd fall. Seems to be a common occurrence in more then a few of the geezer groups I'm in, with many falling regularly on a weekly and monthly basis, tearing rotator cuffs, spraining and breaking wrists and so forth.I used to trip over a lot. Now my wife calls it ‘having a fall’. I am 62 and I have seen more fucking doctors in the past 2 years than I did in the preceding 60.
If only I had treated my body more like a temple and less like a theme park.

Need to survey your paths, to assure you don't fall. That's what I do always, only falling a couple times in the past four and a half years, and when I have fallen, never try and catch myself and cause more of an injury. Learned how to fall long ago for self preservation in my trade. Just go with the fall and roll or do a hand slap. Plenty of videos on youtube to show you how to fall properly. We don't want to risk breaking a hip at this point, and more so as we age.

Kindly fuck off, eh. That's choice. Are you usually so considerate. Do you fall a lot?Kindly fuck off
" I had a fall" is the last thing you'll say before the authorities stamp a (only visible to millennials ,doctors staff and bank tellers) "geriatric" sign on your forehead.
Only occasionally when wearing 5" heels on uneven pavements.Kindly fuck off, eh. That's choice. Do you fall a lot?
It's always best to survey and pay attention to the route your walking -
or are you just naturally oblivious.

She is our little ray of sunshine down here. That is why we all enjoy hanging so much shit on her. Her next move will be to put you on double secret ignore and then comment on your posts. We have a name for her condition in Australia. It is called being ‘fucked in the head.’Kindly fuck off, eh. That's choice. Are you usually so considerate. Do you fall a lot?

Sorry, it was the over 65 bit. 66 is a bit young to be talking about fall prevention in the geriatric sense IMHO. (i'm 63)
Falls in the frail are indeed something to take steps to prevent and learn how to fall correctly.
Bone density scans (especially in women) vitamin D intake a must for everyone over 60 and post menopausal.
When both my mother and MIL were in assisted living care I was surprised they were not routinely give VitD sups.
My mother and many others found the insistence they use wheeled walkers everywhere they went, degrading and humiliating when they felt they didn't need one.
Many of the residents where fit and doing regular yoga and stuff, cycling even.
I'm starting a anti ageist campaign for nursing homes and aged care. The first time someone answers my daughter when I ask a question, steps will be taken and letters written.
Pogo -ing will be encouraged and no one will be asked if they want to come outside and feed the birdies. (even if some do have dementia)
I don't consider 66 elderly.
I don't consider 86 elderly.
Elderly is a state of mind, usually in the minds of whipper snippers.Depends
Chill Boomer.Who's 66? Did I say elderly. I said over 65 crowd, who should by that age diligently practice being safe, rather then risk breaking bones or a hip. All ages should be safe, and no need to getting hurt at any age.
stay the hell out of mexico...this whole fucking country is one continous tripping hazardI used to trip over a lot. Now my wife calls it ‘having a fall’. I am 62 and I have seen more fucking doctors in the past 2 years than I did in the preceding 60.
