Curious - How Old Is Everybody?

Beginning of the semester an undergrad stopped me in the hallway to ask for help finding her genetics class. Girl looked like she belonged in junior high school. I swear, every year the undergrads look younger and younger. At 58 I expect they think I look ancient.

It's the middle school students they are letting be doctors and arming as police that have me concerned.

Almost a decade ago, I looked around the boat I was racing on and realized I was --- for the first time in decades of racing --- the oldest crew. Was a bit of a shock. Now I'm 61 with foulies and a rigging knife that are older than many of the adults I race with.

That's good. I'm 62 and usually the youngest... sometimes by a lot.

When I was 30, between already being bald and having a salt and pepper beard, people would think I was 50. Now I am still bald, and the beard is mostly all salt, people still think I am 50. So I have caught up to my looks 🤣

I used to say I’m not comfortable going to a doc younger than me. I want someone with a little experience. Now there aren’t any older than me…….😳 Most of my docs have retired or are dead. My dentist retired 15 years ago. Keepers……..

and why does the office staff treat me like an 8 year old? “Well sir, you have to understand these scheduling issues are very complicated”…….yeah, I got your “complicated” right here…….

When you go to the Dr, at our age, for an annual exam they have some standard questions. Like have you fallen recently. Really, have you seen me on skiis, or my mtn bike, or any of the other stupid crap I do. He'll yes I've fallen recently......

My new ophthalmologist went to the high school I taught at. She started grade 10 two years after I retired. She finished high school, did an undergrad degree, did med school, and then residency (four years). I must be old!

I thought it was a Miami thing. Doctor's office staff seems to be a mass of incompetence around here, even if the doc is really good.

Hah. Last time I went to the local eye doc glasses place had a very young looking doc. She was very good and obviously knew her trade, even if she did look a high school student.

I'm the opposite - we're looking for a new doc right now and my preference will be for a young female - Korean or similar if possible.

They have all the current training and don't yet thing they are God.
