A man who authorities say was trying to steal a catalytic converter from a truck in Palmdale is dead after being run over by the driver of that truck.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. Tuesday at a shopping center parking lot in the 39000 block of 10th Street West, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities say a car with four suspects inside pulled up to the lifted 4x4 Ford Excursion, and one of them got out to saw off the vehicle's catalytic converter.

A woman was sleeping inside the truck and heard the noises and thought someone was breaking in. She started the engine and put the car in reverse gear. When she felt a bump, she got out and called 911 after she saw a man on the ground.

Responding deputies detained the three other suspects, another man and 2 women. The suspect that was struck was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Been living and sailing on Caney Creek Lake for over 30 years. When a storm is brewing, though not a large lake, it has some good fetch and storms come quick.

Not a good day to be sailing. Hope the fellow who was out there made it home, and learned a lesson. However, instead of trying to sail upwind in a blow, with a boat that does not sail particularly high, and a sailor who struggles to tack, next time I wish he would drop the sails and motor straight back to the dock.

Darwin has some wonderful ways to separate the fools from their lives.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office announced on Sunday that it had arrested the man who shot another person at the Dulles Town Center Mall Food Court.

Alan W. Colie, 31, was charged with "aggravated malicious wounding" following the incident, according to authorities, who added that "the shooting resulted from an interaction between the victim and Colie in the food court."

apparenlty the prank is now part of evidence. IMO, the prankster is an asshole, based on his pranks.

Social media and people doing stupid stuff for "likes" had gotten way out of hand. This isn't "candid camera" from the 70's-80's.

Police and courts have much better things to deal with. Since they are wanting approval from society for their pranks, maybe getting disapproval from individuals should be acceptable punishment.

While I don't condone shooting someone for a practical joke. if I'm on the jury, If the pranks fits, you must acquit.
