The Ukrainian boat is back at the dock with a mainsheet issue, while Casa Padova has a man up the mast.

Just dropped off press officer and sexy Irish lass Jill Campbell on shore, racing to get back on station at 35 knots. Bumpy.

Pollard on Excellent is really doing a great job so far - the class of the non-italian boats. He's got Micky Schwartz on the boat, and my blonde South African assistant today tells me that he's also a South African by birth, rigger, german passport, married to an Englishwoman, living in Torquay. Like all the Excellent boys, he knows how to party big time.

Speaking of parties, we had a chance to chat with Jill about the frankly terrible party situation here in Porto Cervo. One top competitor told me yesterday, "when we get off the water, it feels like we're not even at an event."

More on that later.

We're on Course A now, Luigi's course with Black and White fleets competing. Two boats called back, but otherwise the guys are off. Mallnose was one of the boats called OCS. As we race to the top mark, we've got our fleet on our left, and the other fleet on the right, like we're walking down an aisle of Melgi.

Pretty interesting to see how very favored the left is in this breeze. It's like there is just no right side of the course at all.

We're now at the top mark of Course A - finally getting a chance to see Blu Moon (Flavio Favini, Titiano Navi), Uka Uka, and some of the other top boats. Mark rounding ahead.

Amazing - Blu Moon leads into the gate, with a gorgeous leeward drop, and one litle piece of kite gets in the water, and the whole thing goes under the boat. Still, they only lost two positions...

Top mark got brutal - Hyde sails caught the mark, lots of screaming seems normal now, wind gusts ripping through the fleet at 25 knots or so. Here's some video.
