Day 6 - It's All Down To This

We are busting our asses out to the course as I write. A bright sunny day has beaten the rainy forecasts down, and it's blowing 12 knots from the SW on these shimmering, glimmering Mediterranean waters. The top 5 boats all have a shot, and one bad race will end their chances, and we will be here for every bit of the action.

Thanks for tuning in - enjoy the hell out of today's racing. We will.

Huge thanks to Ullman Sails for bringing this coverage to you, and to Joe Fly for providing us with the technology to make it the very best OTW Anarchy we've done yet.

We have some awesome interviews for you too from last night and this morninng, but they're long as hell, so check back for them. In the mean time, we're just 30 minutes from the first warning.

Here are the current standings in Gold Fleet and Silver Fleet.

There are no more throwouts.

Luigi is giving everyone five minutes to ping the pins. More and more guys are using Velociteks to ping the start lines. In one year, the entire Melges fleet will be using either the Vtek or Rockbox or another alternative - the advantage is that significant. The biggest problem is the RC dealing with all the competitors sailing right next to them to get their ping (they have to sit next to the flag for 3 seconds).

Sorry - to explain, they just had a general recall, and now they've reset, and Luigi is giving them five minutes. Maybe a dozen guys have the start line 'puters now. Next year it will be all of them.

Monsoon and Brantolo win the boat and blaze off on the right, which paid big during the late races yesterday. Cotes D'armour gets totally shut out and has to tack and gybe around, starting 40 seconds late. Joe Fly, Uka Uka, Sevenstar start in the middle right in clearer air. We are in planing conditions, but not fast ones. Wednesday and Thursday we were flat out trying to get to the borrom mark in time for the drops - today may not be that much trouble, though the wind is already picking up a bit.

I'm sure it does E. We hope to see you back here at some point - glad you're getting to watch it.

Arborea - a local boat in Silver fleet - is hanging out at the top mark to watch the gold fleet while the rest of Silver races.

Another Melges is coming over to watch the start from Silver - it's ITA 598 - Roland. Too funny.

Here's the real start on video.

Joe Fly is heading out to the FAR RIGHT with no one else, and it looks like there is definitely a new pressure line out here. There is no one else even close, though Carlos is the next boat to the right. Crazy flier!
