Breton Red.

Technically known as Romeo Limas (red/long).
If they haven't faded to pink, you aren't rich enough and didn't by them at the right store.

Night deliveries on LIS are beautiful plus the drunken powerboat jockeys have largely gone home.

Oh dear. Spoken like a true summer resident.

Breton Red trousers are faded from the day the cotton is dyed, son.

Then its just making sure you dont get run down by a tug and barge. Or trip on the towline between the 2.

Seems cheap proOC - I'd consider an upgrade to Great Lakes pilot they make $336k

$1300 a day if you figure they work 40 weeks a year.

+1 on the overnight. Avoid the heat, no wind, and powerboaters in LIS. Don't forget, you're going to have to pay for some time on either end for the captain to go through the boat, provision up and get it squared away when he arrives. He might bill you for the the travel day home as well.

Thanks for all the great replies. I found a very good guy at a rate that is not cheap, but within reason. Seems very qualified, and also a good guy. The first person that I spoke to was charging a number that just made no sense.

I must not have had my sarcasm font selected. Never seen a year-rounder actually wear Breton Red trousers, at least not with "intent to impress". Maybe to garden.

As for nipping across the cable between the tug and the barge...I've seen it tried. It did NOT end well.

I was also being sarcastic. I don't think I have ever used the expression "oh dear" seriously in my entire life.

Agree with the tug and barge discussion - I'm sure a quick Google of "slackline fails" would illustrate why.

What would Tacoma WA to San Diego cost? Looking at a boat now that if I can get it transported for a reasonable price I may buy.

Thankss
Call a good boat hauler. Cheaper, faster, less risk and WAY less wear and tear (by an order of magnitude) on your new found toy.

The good haulers know their boats, the bridges, the clearances and any necessary work-arounds.

Unless you're looking at something big with real clearance issues its the way to go.

Another guy and i offered to do it for free if you provide booze and food.

Instead ive spent the past week lake sailing with no wind.

Ive realized how fun it is living on the hook. Tomorrow makes 10 days living on the sailboat.

Pretty much everyone I work with for WxRouting charges around $2 per mile/ $500 minimum plus travel and expenses. That rate seems to get you a better skipper with the appropriate paperwork (license) and insurance.

Well, that does not include my compensation for food and transportation.

I charge a flat fee for daily gigs which is twice that amount, but I am providing a service that is not about the money. As long as I can pay some bills...

Sure I COULD charge more...
