Departure Wx- Chesapeake to Maine

We love Belfast, but generally stay out of Penobscot Bay until after Labor Day to avoid crowds.

Just broke that rule, and are anchored in Seal Bay, E coast of Vinalhaven. All was good until a funky cruising boat anchored 50’ off our bow, despite the bay being mostly empty.
That's what water balloon canons are for.

Are you referring to what I would call a funnelator?

Woot! Sailed all the way here,  wing on wing. I sailed into the mooring field,  good times! Little kids right it was cool for some reason.

Some sailing during my sailing vacation puts me right.

We've been surprised so far this week that it is not more crowded. We're currently the only boat in the anchorage between the White Islands (the ones off Hurricane Island). And we've found Perry Creek and Long Cove on Vinalhaven with room to spare.

A frequent topic of conversation onboard is whether we should add a diesel heater. It's quite chilly right now despite the sunshine. Heat would certainly have been nice when we were holed up near Ajax in Port Clyde.

Maybe the cool weather is keeping the numbers down.

Dear Annapolis,

You're doing it wrong. Completely wrong.

Also, pro tip when coming to Cuttyhunk: Do NOT grab the mooring next to the giant Hatteras. He *will* run the generator.

Why, oh why do powerboats that motor all day have to run their generators all evening.? Do they not have batteries?  Two weeks ago we were next to a particularly bad offender in Edgartown called "Karen". How completely f***ing appropriate!
