I think that much like the abortion issue, the "let's kick immigrants out" issue will turn out to be the car the dog didn't really want to catch.
Catering to the 'rah-rah' white racists for votes isn't going to go well for the service industries and agricultural sector.
They made their bed.....
Yeah, but he has to win the primary first, to even run for president. He is just a "Trump in jail" hair away from it. After the primary, I would think DeSantis, or maybe TJ (Tacky Jackie, wish I could come up with some sort of "Cruella" name for her and copyright it), would be smart enough to "pivot" in an attempt to get enough of the "independents" to vote his way to swing the electoral college, like his bed time story hero did in 2016, although the hero didn't really have to pivot with the heavy Comey hand on the scales.

Things could happen where DeSantis actually becomes our next president. Remember, the base, important for the primary, doesn't eat any vegetables or fruits anyway.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a book to learn how to become an optimist?

Showing why I suggested above somewhere that Chis Christie could light at least a small gas-fire in the GOP primary.

As it turns out, Ron “Don’t Say Gay” DeSantis doesn’t only hate LGBTQ+ people. Apparently, he doesn’t care for World War II veterans, either.

At a recent meet-and-greet in Iowa, the flailing Florida governor was alerted there was a WW II veteran in attendance. Instead of approaching the wartime hero, DeSantis gave a simple nod, and went back to take a photo with somebody else.

“DeSantis gave a nod in the veteran’s direction, flashed a thumbs-up, thanked him for his service and turned back to someone else waiting for a photo with him,” reports MSNBC’s Kyle Griffin.

But that wasn’t the end of DeSantis’ pained interaction with one of the men responsible for defeating fascism. Iowa governor Kim Reynolds, a Republican, yelled to DeSantis that the veteran would also like his signature.

So DeSantis scribbled his name on a piece of paper; and once again, moved on to the next voter.

When asked again whether he knew there was a WW II veteran in attendance, DeSantis demurred. “I know, I signed something for him!” he yelled.

Especially as a veteran himself... well, a miltary lawyer, he's almost like a real veteran... for DeSantis to turn his back on a fellow veteran is beneath contempt.

What good is homeowners insurance if you can't get anyone to do the repairs? We might as well just let the sea come in and swallow us. Or we could sell to RWNJ freedom lovers and watch them go under.

What value does $8530 cover? Just curious and wanting to compare with what we pay up here.
Jules - wish I didn't owe the property, then I would just sail away
Cal- The mortgage is around 150 but the Insurance companies won't cover that amount.
You can possible get the state ins. Citizens but try collecting from them. Their around 3200, but
need a reassessment $$, then but cover only cover less than 1/2 value of the unit.

On Maui, our house, with an assessment of $875,000 pays an annual insurance of $927. We do set our deductible at $5,000 which helps with a lower cost. If we chose the normal $1k deductible our rate would be like $1500 or something like that.

EDIT: We also have Zephyr Hurricane insurance, which is $505/yr. So, $1432/yr insurance.

Check your numbers. Annual of $927 plus $505/mo is closer to $582/mo. Was the $927 monthly and not annual?

Our earthquake insurance doubles our premium, without it we would be $1200. Deductible for earthquake damage is $40K, so better than nothing but still brutal.

good for you.
I was sucked to the fantasy world that Florida was.
Then we get a Governor that doesn't give a shit about people.
High Insurance.
polluted waterways
And for some crazy reason, Floridians voted them into office. (I'm including Scott in there) Two first class self-serving assholes.

But, you know, freedom!

The Nazis protesting outside Disney World seem to have a fondness for Uberfuckhead Rhonda. I wonder why that is.
