Going to dinner...place holder.
Otherwords; goin' to party and won't be in any shape to set this up at 2 or 4 in the am....................... ;)

Great job this week by all.

Clean, the VO, T Hutch, and Richardson interviews were some of the best yet.

Bummer to be so close but yet fo far away. You have put everyone on scene vicariously all week.

Hope the economy (especially housing) is better next year. Would love to double the number of J35's in attendance.

Wow, when I wrote about Moving Day yesterday it was really posing the question that these things were possible. Moving day is usually when the pro's shine and amature hour falls behind. Moving day is even more likely that the boats that got on top through three days of good racing continue to shine, and extend. But Like a good soap opera everyone responded yesterday in the two marquee fleets- M24 and M32- and there is now going to be an all our dog fight to the finish!

It began in the M32's with an almost unexpicable day of whoops by Star. Nearly dominant for three days they posted two big numbers- a tacticians nightmare on Moving Day. But in any good script there has to be a supporting cast, this time played by Nitemare and New Wave. Starting in a deep hole Nixon and Co. did what they had to do- post a pair of VERY little numbers, and get some help. They got a lot of help. Amy's 1-2 takes her from also-ran status to a legit top ten shot today, something most were thinking was right out. Simpson, Jackson, and 3rd for the day Jason Carroll chimed in to the onslaught and the fleet reeled in the top two. While Red has moved into the top spot thier less than impressive 8-7 shows the fleet that the door is ajar, and if you don't think Nixon smells the blood in the water then you never saw Jaws. This Anachist thinks anything is possible on this last day, and the drama should be great. Can perennial badass Eukland rebound from his hangover to close the deal that was all but cement this time yesterday? Can New Wave keep rolling and fufill an SA prediction? Can Nitemare continue thier new found podium snatching performance to seat in the top ten where they belong? Or does Red find a way to take the title? We'll see...

The M24's also found out what mocing day is all about. While I think anyone (else) would have walked away from a 5-2 with a big smile, McKee is probably biting his lip right now. 5-2 was not a flop, but it opened the door. We could see some European Team Racing at the race nine start this morning, I hope Clean is there to see it. And the continued performance of WTF- while not a shock- was certainly NOT what Brun, Kolius, and Porter had in mind. With this trio of deep professional talent chomping at the bit behind Field, Hunt, and Co. Alan was able to fend off the attack and further solidify his hold on a top five spot.

Other Drama today will be in the J-105 fleet where the top three are seperated by 4 points. For slow, miserable sprit boats with no room to stand up inside a (34') boat there should be some heated action at the starts and mark roundings today. Hopefully everyone will play nicely with others so this afternoon is not spent in Liar's Court. With the number of cameras on the course today we hope that even if it does the truth prevails- quickly- showing perhaps the greatest benefit of spectators, anarchists, and above all- proof.

The Farr 40's are also up for grabs, right behind them the Swan's are up for grabs as well. Should make for a great day on Circle One.

Good Morning
G'Morning all...

I can play for an hour, and then have to hit the road.

weather reports say 50* building to 60*, higher humidity.

Breezes 10-15, NE'ly going E'ly

Clean's summary from e-Anarchy:

Bright sun, shifty and moderate conditions, and big action dominated Key West today, making Key West On-The-Water Anarchy, presented by Quantum Sails the most entertaining it's ever been.

Our live report came from the Melges 24/32 and J/105 course, where Jeff Ecklund's Star continued to struggle against an onslaught by Joe Woods' Red. Red grabbed the top spot by one point despite losing a crew member to a dislocated shoulder in the first race, while New Wave is attacking from behind with a 2,2,1 in the last three races. Story of the day? Amy Neill's and the sentimental SA favorites on Nitemare, with a solid bullet and a strong second place in the 8-12 knots on the course today.

The Italians continue to dominate the M24 class, though Uka Uka Racing looked more reachable today with a 5,2. It's unlikely anyone will touch them, though it's a big fleet and any big mistake could change that quickly, letting Blu Moon or Joe Fly squeak in. One team just waiting for a hiccup from Italy is Alan Field's WTF. Amateur driver Field is top US helm, and top amateur helm, and he is having a blast. He was tickled to death at their victory in Race 7, when they crossed the line nearly three minutes before the second place boat – an absolute eternity at the top level of the M24 fleet.

The Farr 40 is close too – as expected, Barking Mad and Mascalzone Latino are duking it out by only one point, though we didn't expect Barking to take a DFL today – listen to Jim Richardson's comments yourself about the blue boat and more.

SA favorite Jack-A-Roe with our pal the Beverator scored two bullets today in the Mumm 30 class. With super close racing, and the event up for grabs, the five teams seem to be really enjoying themselves. Listen to Jack-a-roe's 15 year old bowman here.

The shitbox course is all locked up for most of the classes. For the second year in a row, the Good Girl boys own PHRF 2 with almost straight bullets, and Steven Stollman's well-sailed C&C has almost clinched PHRF 1. As expected, John Storck's Rumor is walking away with the J/80s, while the Cape Fear 38 Tangent continues to sail well in PHRF 3, with a comfortable lead over the perennial Annapolis favorite L'outrage. Only PHRF 4 is still a battle, and it's only between Elysium and Lightning Rod – two S2 9.1s. Thank god we don't have to watch them again tomorrow! We're kidding.....sort of.

Brian Keane's Savasana is just holding on in the J/105s – and there was some great racing among them today a long way behind the Melgi. On the big boat course, the Mills 40 Soozal seems to have locked up a very competitive IRC 2 class dominated by non-planing cruiser/racers. Listen to Dave Armitage talk about the racing with us from the Mills 43 Cool Breeze. The TP52 RAN has walked away with the big boat title, bad news for the Anarchists on Rosebud in second, while the Swan 42 class has some of the closest racing of the regatta – and we'll see some of that tomorrow.

Those who watched today saw some of the best action ever, and the volume of readers was outstanding. We finally got some topless action on board, and with the booze and music flowing, the race boats just couldn't stay away between races – maybe it was the tits on deck? Come watch us for one more day – we'll get the tight finishes and the big fouls and maybe even some more tits – whatever we do, we're sure going to have some fun, and you're along for the ride. We also forgot to give away the Dax OneTouch handles and PLO gear on Thursday, which means a flurry of giveaways on Friday. Ya gotta be in it to win it...We'll split our time tomorrow between the big boats and the Melgi – wrapping up with the 24s and 32s – Watch Friday's action now!

And if this report isn't enough for you, be sure to read the entire Thursday report for pics, interviews, video, and written commentary – it's gold. Many, many thanks for tuning in to 2009 OTW Anarchy Key West presented by Quantum Sails.

And of course a huge thanks to Point Loma Outfitting, Santa Cruz Yachts, Latis Yachting Solutions, Melges Performance Sailboats, Flying Tiger Boats, Dax OneTouch Winch Handles, and HBI Boats.

What has been going on in the s42 class.. Celeritas just out of phase or what?

Well, results are typical of a small tight OD class. With only 6 boats in the class, the points totals don't spread out as far, and a couple of finish shake-ups can change the whole game.

I didn't talk to any of the guys yesterday, But, from Wed: a crew from Celeritas reported 1st race w/ two 360 turn penalties, and getting caught on the wrong side of a major shift in the 2nd race. From Tiburon: Just reporting tight class racing. Anyone's game.

NEWS FROM THE FARR 40 CLASS -

HRH Prince Frederik gets his program together!

Danish Crown Prince Frederik sailed to his first Acura Key West regatta win in his Farr 40-class Nanoq on Thursday.

"It was great sailing today and it felt good to win a race," said Frederik, who was competing in this event for the third time. "That is always difficult in this class, because it is so competitive with so many good sailing teams."

Nanoq was in ninth place in the 12-boat class after winning the seventh race of the regatta.

Defending Farr 40 champion Barking Mad, skippered by Jim Richardson of the United States, held a slim one-point lead over Mascalzone Latino, owned by Italian businessman Vincenzo Onorato entering Friday's final race of the five-day regatta.

Barking Mad entered Thursday's races with a seemingly comfortable eight-point cushion and was second behind Nanoq in the seventh race. But Richardson's crew had a disastrous eighth race, finishing last.

"We rounded the first weather mark in second place, but we went backward from there," said Richardson's tactician Terry Hutchinson, who blamed the loss on himself. "It was just a matter of poor boat positioning."

Another Farr 40 threat Joe Fly, owned by Italian Giovanni Maspero, was just three points behind Barking Mad.

Thanks to all for great coverage, helps when not there.

Well Congrats to all with their positions sewed up BUT there are many in position to move up or miss out on the podium today.

IRC 1 is one of those that could feel great or suck BUT at the start of day 5 you have 3 boats very tight for 2nd & 3rd, your at least in control of your destiny, you are in play, cant ask for more than that on a friday morning.

Two of three will be on the stage tonight one will be watching. Been there done that (and ended up watching a couple yrs ago)

Good luck to Anema & Core, as well as all with a chance to make the move today or hang on to what you have.

Here is to a great day of sailing and hopefully the classes will be setteled on the water today and not in the room this afternoon!!

Regards
