We don’t believe the Steele dossier was the trigger for the F.B.I.’s investigation into Russian meddling. As we told the Senate Judiciary Committee in August, our sources said the dossier was taken so seriously because it corroborated reports the bureau had received from other sources, including one inside the Trump camp.

Incorrect. The FBI states that "major core charges of collusion" remain unsubstantiated. Not that they cannot substantiate said charges, only that they are at this point in time. Not the majority of the dossier, just the parts regarding the "major core charges of collusion".

At one point, the charges Flynn and Papadopoulos plead guilty to would have been described in exactly the same fashion; yet clearly they could be substantiated and were given time to investigate them more completely. Which is what the FBI continues to do. When they finish the investigation and/or state that all of their leads have dried up, than their "currently unsubstantiated" will become the "cannot substantiate" you are trying to twist the situation as it stands to be. Until then, it's just another bold attempt by the PA Trump Defence League to spin gold from straw... without a Rumpelstiltskin in sight.

It's not the binary "either or" choice you present. You can believe the company that paid by a variety of sources, including Republicans during the primary, AND the FBI. Their statements are not mutually exclusive, try as you might to pretend otherwise.

The Aussies tipped the FBI off and got the investigation started before the dossier. And Mueller has the guy that caused that, who knew about the hack of the DNC before the DNC announced it, as a cooperating witness. 

The dossier is just extra material to track down, and the guys who commissioned it are now talking. Why won’t the committees release their testimony, as they wish?

If you were known to be a world class soccer player, were publicly seeking a position for the team, and try outs had yet to be completed - you'd be both correct and analogous to the situation with the FBI. Of course, as you're someone well beyond his prime and far from being world class material at anything, even at your best, your analogy is so nonsensical as to make Trump's tweets look intelligent. :rolleyes:

Seems the company is happy for the public spotlight to shine on their testimony and the Republican led committee would rather the public remain in the dark about what was said.

Now, I'm not saying the Republicans leading the committee are sycophantic boot-lickers willing to lie & mislead the public in their defence of Trump, but I think it is an interesting question. I also find the public bitch-slap from Fusion GPS quite refreshing. Bigly.

The talking points will be out soon, so we will soon have the answer to the question of how Pappydap knew about the hack before it was acknowledged. 

Its a shame the dossier distraction didn’t work out. I’m guessing it will be the fallback of conflating “collusion” with “conspiracy” and pointing out that collusion isn’t a crime except in some antitrust situations that don’t apply here, to get people to ignore conspiracy. That one has worked pretty well.

If and when Mueller indicts Don Jr., Sr's head will explode and he will fire Mueller and/or Nuke North Korea.  I'm guessing this will happen in the June/July timeframe and GOP House members will have to make a choice to support or distance themselves from Trump.  I think at that point the idiot's mental stability will be forefront and something bad will happen.  The clown car will crash.
