Very good but very long article even by New Yorker standards. Below is the relevant bit that bothers Conway.

The day after the Justice Department filed suit to stop it, he declared the proposed merger “not good for the country.” Trump also claimed that he was “not going to get involved,” and the Justice Department has repeatedly assured the public that he hasn’t done so.
However, in the late summer of 2017, a few months before the Justice Department filed suit, Trump ordered Gary Cohn, then the director of the National Economic Council, to pressure the Justice Department to intervene. According to a well-informed source, Trump called Cohn into the Oval Office along with John Kelly, who had just become the chief of staff, and said in exasperation to Kelly, “I’ve been telling Cohn to get this lawsuit filed and nothing’s happened! I’ve mentioned it fifty times. And nothing’s happened. I want to make sure it’s filed. I want that deal blocked!”
Cohn, a former president of Goldman Sachs, evidently understood that it would be highly improper for a President to use the Justice Department to undermine two of the most powerful companies in the country as punishment for unfavorable news coverage, and as a reward for a competing news organization that boosted him. According to the source, as Cohn walked out of the meeting he told Kelly, “Don’t you fucking dare call the Justice Department. We are not going to do business that way.”
A spokesperson for Cohn declined to comment, and Kelly did not respond to inquiries from The New Yorker, but a former White House official confirmed that Trump often “vented” in “frustration” about wanting to block the A. T. & T.-Time Warner merger. “The President does not understand the nuances of antitrust law or policy,” the former official says. “But he wanted to bring down the hammer.” (Last month, a federal court ruled against the Justice Department.)
Trump Administration officials say that political considerations did not guide the government’s actions on the three deals. Blair Levin, the former F.C.C. official, told me, “There may be innocent explanations.” But, he adds, “Trump famously said you’re going to get sick and tired of winning, and that may not be true for the rest of America, but it sure is true of Murdoch.” He says of Murdoch, “He’s an incredibly cunning political player. He leaves no fingerprints. He’s been in the game of influencing government behavior to his benefit longer than most of us have been alive.”

Good OpEd in the NYT laying out how Giuliani’s example with la Cosa Nostra lays the groundwork for charging Trump’s organizations with RICO violations.
A pattern of defrauding charitable organizations, defrauding investors, failing to pay contractors, hiring illegal aliens and tax fraud could be combined with obstructing justice, stopping mergers (like AT&T) for personal or political gain and suborning perjury while in office.
The RICO style investigation reduces the barriers needed to find direct evidence of orders from Trump to his officers: as both Comey and now Cohen have testified... the president got others to do his bidding via innuendo and setting and phrases like “I hope you can let this go,” “I need your loyalty”.

Not really. Running a stop sign is grounds for impeachment if the Senate thinks it is and running up and down 5th Avenue shooting people in the head isn't if the Senate thinks it isn't and so far as I can tell there is absolutely nothing the Senate thinks is impeachable.

According to NPR:
“Many of those figures linked to the Trump Organization were named on Monday's list of document requests, including Trump Organization Executive Vice President Donald Trump, Jr, Chief Operating Officer Matthew Calamari, Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg, General Counsel Alan Garten and longtime Trump executive assistant Rhona Graff.
But the panel also demanded documents from other figures unrelated to the Trump Organization — an indication on the broad scope of the Judiciary committee's investigation.
The panel is seeking documents from entities as diverse as Cambridge Analytica, WikiLeaks, the Trump Foundation, the Justice Department. the White House and the National Rifle Association. “

NBC NEWS reports:

The sole intent and purpose of asking Cohen to testify was to find more holes to fish in - it'll be interesting to compare how the Judiciary Committee approaches this task w/the way that Mueller has executed his responsibilities.

Not that the Senate has jack-all to do with impeachment. Which occurs in the House.
Now as far as conviction, so far as I can tell there is absolutely nothing the Senate thinks is worthy of conviction.

That is what I meant - thanks for the clarification. IMHO the House is working on the embarrassment principle, i.e that they will hit on something so blatant the Senate will HAVE to convict. IMHO that is doomed to fail, they are far beyond embarrassment now.
