Great video, the recon public photos are lacking much detail, would be interesting to see more of what this is.

Look,
I don't mind it if it's between two Challengers like it was between Luna Rossa and Emirates Team New Zealand in 2013 and 2017.

I don't like it if it's between the Defender and the Challenger. The IRONY is this: When Oracle Team USA and SoftBank Team Japan did their collaboration in the Run-Up to the Bermuda AC Grant Dalton was the first one who cried FOUL but now that he is the Defender he is doing it himself and makes himself rich. Dalton is an absolute HYPOCRITE!
I might be wrong here as have not spent much time looking, but can't seem to find anything about GD moaning about a softbank/oracle partnership. Not even a bad word about DB helming/CEO the JPN team.

Complaints from him about the framework agreement essentially cementing future cups, YES, total hypocrite there.

Could be the force sensing matrix^, could be they stuck their 360° camera behind a bent bit of plexiglass?
My observation of the above picture is that on the RHS along the boundary of the patch you can see it is 'raised' above the foil if you follow the upper surfaces' silhouette. I think if they built a foil with a window they'd have little reason not to keep it fair.

Speaking about the sail programme, Nathan Outteridge gave a fascinating insight and when asked about the inversion he responded: That’s the beauty of development sails, isn't it? And doing multiple iterations of sails you try and work out what wind range you want the sails in and what you want them to do up and down the wind range. It’s no secret that you want them flatter when it’s windier and deeper when it’s lighter and a lot of our sailing so far has been middle to upper end and we’re really looking to try and get the two boats in the water in the lighter breeze to see how our sail design programme is going. And also, there’s benefits of having an auto pilot keeping the boat really nicely locked in versus manual flight and having two boats that are identical etc and how you sail them. It’s fascinating for us, we learn lots from that and it's pretty insightful to go back and review the data and try work out how you can improve.”

From Dan Bernasconi -

“The AC40 has exceeded our expectations. It’s a fantastic little boat. Its performance is good, it’s really good fun to sail, and it’s a great boat on the race course.

“Our younger sailors have been able to sail it really well with a pretty short learning curve. It’s not a trivial boat to sail but, getting instructions from our senior sailors, they have been getting up to speed quickly.”

We could all sail the AC40 on Autopilot. Just like a Tesla, runs great until it crashes.
