Not at all. Clearly the dual helm worked and all teams have adapted to use it. So clearly the dual helm idea was a good idea.
But even LR admitted last time, Team NZ was well ahead, that racing them was like "Taking a knife to a gunfight"
NZ have clearly been the most dominant team in the Americas Cup for years now.
Are they doing something right? clearly. They back to back winners looking at a likely three peat, so yes, what ever they are doing, they are clearly doing right, to deny that is stupid.
INEOS have admitted they got it wrong in Bermuda, and they got it wrong again in Auckland, now they're suffering set back after setback.
Your only argument is "well they must be after something, i don't know what it is or whether it will work but they must be doing something" that isn't a sound basis. Its just hoping and praying.
History supports my argument, not yours.

Age old story. TNZ suffered a humiliating loss or two, and came back with the fire that resulted. Someone else needs to be hungrier. For a few cycles. It's not a trivial thing. I kinda hope AM has the fire, but not really sure those billionaires would be good candidates for that.

A good case in point. It was a good idea, but you never recognised it as such until after NZ adopted it

As for this cycle we have only seen the test boats. Final boats will be quite different. So who is fastest is guesswork

It was simply an analog to demonstrate the difference between playing the game and winning it.

A lot of people dismissed the AC75 as being a stupid idea, an idea that looked good on paper but would never work. IIRC you were one of them (although you'd probably have a case of selected amnesia regarding that) but clearly the AC75 was and is a great idea that works extremely well.
Who cares when it gets acknowledged? A lot of people, again, you included, did not recognise the cyclors, the kinked foils or the "X box" wing controller as being a good idea either until after the Kiwi's won. But they were all undeniably good ideas

A good idea is a good idea no matter when it gets acknowledged.

NZ were clearly on to a good thing with the cyclors, but ditched the concept to appease the traditionalists who scoffed at the idea and wanted traditional coffee grinders, even after it proved to be one of, if not the defining factor in their 8-1 demolition of OTUSA.
But clearly the idea had merit.

NZ beat LR, convincingly, so ultimately the dual helm idea itself did not make a difference to Luna Rossa as they still lost. The hidden boom was a good idea, but the hydraulic system developed by Team NZ was even better, and now that system has been adopted by all teams. Another good idea.
LR ditching the running back stays, another good idea, now utilised by all teams.

Not too many good ideas coming out of the British camp...

I think the designers are thinking waves will be a significant factor. The W might well be the solution? ETNZ are keen to find more waves. Fooling around in the back paddock doesn't serve that.

As I say, very hard to compare. We've seen all the boats in waves, but often not. Even then as most of us know, what look like similar waves (especially to ignoramati) can have very different impact on (sailing) boats. Especially with all the other differences

I kind of expected it to be less of an impact on foiling boats, but I am increasingly convinced I was wrong.

Not sure you have ever fooled around down in the “back paddock” Horn it can be a very gnarly stretch of water more so whilst fanging along at 40 knots.
Team Now From Far Far Away most certainly are not just filling in time.

True Pris I don't know that area well at all. We were based in Arkles, and only time we went in that direction was to go to the Noises, and Rakino. Never been to Waiheke either. I know the stretch between Tiri and Little Barrier very well, and that can get really rough with a decent southerly. Smashed home into that many times.

It doesn't look as big waves as we are seeing in Ineos or LR videos at times, though I admit that is also hard to compare because NZ are sailing the bigger boat. Back to guessing
