Will be interesting to see how it's perceived, but my sense is that the national attitude is increasingly restless (overly so AFAIMC), and I doubt there will be many complaints other than 'But what about me too?! Can't I got duck shooting!?'.
The answer to that "but what about me" person is he can go duck shooting so long as he plays the role of the duck...

I stand completely corrected, I am still shocked to see it tho. they must have got an exemption of some manner ... if they didn't, watch out

is that the spy boat beside them or one of their tenders? ... if ETNZ has got an exception to train as a sports team or whatever they have applied for ... I wonder if the spies have done the same ... might be worth a complaint to the harbour master :p

I read an article earlier today about this...  Emirates Team NZ resume on the water testing after 5 weeks in Lockdown

Grant Dalton told Sail-World by phone: “Emirates Team New Zealand is a commercial enterprise in terms of COVID19 Alert Level 3 and its test boat is an extension of that business activity. We have been in communications with all appropriate parties and received a letter from MBIE that did not disagree with this position."

...

Construction of the team's second AC75 and likely race boat in their North Shore construction facility, resumed on Tuesday as permitted by the reduction in Alert Level and additional safety procedures required to work while under Level 3 restrictions. They are working around the clock to make up the 9000 man hours of build time lost during the Level 4 lock down.

Rest of the article available to read via the link above...

Must be great fun having the entire gulf pretty much to themselves :)
Never seen the harbour so empty. Glad to see them out and about again. Like Licky was pondering, I wonder if the spy boats got permission? I guess you could argue spying is a business activity in that context....

Happy to see someone is enjoying the autumn wind and sunshine on the Waitemata. Except I find I'm incredibly jealous and pissed off at the same time. 40+ years of incident free sailing and all I can do is look at my boat.

Fuck you Covid-19.

Italy
B1 never arrived in Italy, probably is still going there. I don't think they can unload Te Aihe from the shipping boat. The shipping boat will arrive in Italy and then GD will have to found a place on another shipping boat to take B1 back. Will take months and months till they have the boat back. Very bad for design and training. The surrogate is quite impressive, but it's still a surrogate. LR is sailing again, they put generators on the boat and took away the grinders, so they can keep distance while sailing. It's smart, grinders can train in the gym. And I think also LR B2 will be under construction soon, since Italy is reopening.

Repeat after me....  is NOT a surrogate... is NOT a surrogate.... is NOT a surrogate....

Do you think 50 times will be enough... Or should we make it 500?
