I seriously doubt the Irish negotiators will be gullible.
Maybe, but unlike Valencia there appear to be high-level politicos pursuing the idea, probably in the hopes of also side-funding some govt entities who’d then work on the project. It may be coincidental but one article also pointed out that the head of the Origin Sports Group (apparently tasked with the venue bid effort) is himself from Cork.

"There is no doubt there is money there," said Dunphy, when asked if he and backers of the move already had the wherewithal, "but we can't really talk money until certain issues have been resolved."

• Commitment from Team NZ and the RNZYS that they will defend the Cup in New Zealand if the money is raised.

• That Team NZ would not "stand in the way" of the RNZYS when it comes to a local defence.

• That Team NZ delay any decision on a venue (the current deadline is September 17 with Cork in Ireland and Valencia in Spain thought to be frontrunners) until November 17, the date when the protocol for the 37th America's Cup must be released.

Sounds tight as a ducks arse.
“RNZYS and ETNZ have a contract under which Emirates Team New Zealand are responsible for all aspects of the 37th America’s Cup Defence, which includes funding and organisation,” said commodore Aaron Young.

“While the preference of both RNZYS and ETNZ would be to hold the next America’s Cup in New Zealand it cannot compromise the structure of Emirates Team New Zealand or risk the success of their future campaign and we are in complete alignment on this,” said Young in the joint statement.

Dunphy needs to bend a knee in front of Lord Dalton the squadron is the messenger.

And were you going to bid whatever it took to beat the other bidders. No matter how high it went?
Truth that be known Fourhimself outbid himself at the house auction after remonstrating with the auctioneer that he had to have the final word given the incoherent displays of petulant ill informed one eyed ranting he monotonously posts here.

Everyone has a limit. As We did. Our limit was obviously higher than his.
Right. This makes more sense than you previous statement which was clearly bollocks.

So back to the point, why would you suppose that cork and Valencia do not have limits. Plainly they will and will not just throw more cash to outbid the other.

It's not even clear they will outbid Aukland

No one said they, or did out bid Auckland. No one knows what kind of bid anyone has put in yet, its pure speculation. The point is as it has ALWAYS been, that Cork and Valencia are short listed from an initial list of 35. They clearly have limits. Everyone has limits. We exceeded (or raised) our limit when buying at auction because we wanted the house. Cork or Valencia may be willing to exceed ( or raise) their limit to host the Cup, hell, even Auckland may be willing to up its "Final offer" once everyone's cards are on the table. Its a game of poker at the moment. Only Dalton will decide the winner.
