I put telltales on the base of my genoa and also on the larger windsurfer rigs,[mostly for fun, however you could see the flow along the base].
Thanks @guerdon. How did those telltales behave? I tried it a while, expecting to see vertical flow w/o deck as endplate and horizontal flow w/deck as endplate. No luck.I put telltales on the base of my genoa and also on the larger windsurfer rigs,[mostly for fun, however you could see the flow along the base].
At about 1m30s in this video you see a foiling dinghy with a smoke flare at the end of the boom. See the wind eddie. Endplating kills that eddie, which is just drag drag drag.Aside from documenting an increase in performance, what (if any) visual cues would there be when end-plating a jib should increase performance appreciably? For example, perhaps the behavior of specially-placed telltales.

Much appreciated EK.Marty,
A comparative approach could be appropriate
1- Telltales without endplating
2-Same telletales after enplating
