Late on Sunday 11 December is looking good for the record. Hopefully the front will come through earlier rather than later. Does Horonuku have nav lights?:

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is looking good for more testing/tuning.
The direction may not be ideal. They basically are running north on the speed runs

Love the steering correction at 0.11 in the vid to bring the ama wheel back down to terra firma, how many of us could do that at over 100mph and understand why you are doing it ?
it actually looks like he is trying his best to keep the outrigger wheel as unweighted and floaty as possible as often as possible.

Lol so much for 50k slower than it needs to be then....
So much for bad location selection...
So much for timeframes running out....
So by your logic they have always been doing 200?
they had to get there, the video they put out themselves stated they were 50 K slower than they needed to be. They have finally got there now they just need to get the record.

If they hadn’t had such shit weather which was well forecasted, then maybe they would’ve done it sooner. So yes, I stand by my shit Location suggestion and how can the timeframe be running out if they have unlimited funds as you suggested.

I’ve always maintained that I want them to get the record because going fast is cool. In my opinion which doesn’t count for much ( neither does yours by the way) They went about it in a fairly roundabout way and if they had chosen a different location, likely would’ve broken the record much sooner and been home by now

Soo now it looks like they are going to break the record should we start placing bets on what the new record will be. I bet they go hard as they always do , giving they’re confidence the whole time ,they expect more. So all things considered I’m going with ….

232 kmh

So if, Lenny and team do manage to set a new world record (and it's not written into the record book yet) in your opinion, they could have gone about the whole thing much better. Good to know, JAL. ;-)

Doesn't seem like they will need as much breeze as greenbird. And probably not 100 people attending I would think.
this bit does confuse me a little bit. breaking a windspeed record in just gusting 20-25knots seems odd. (In contrast the windspeed merchants in Luderitz, Namibia are hanging on to their 6sqm windsurf rigs on skinny boards in with wind gusts over 40kts.)

They need to go (for argument's sake) 220km for 3 seconds. That requires about 200m of race track. obviously huge amounts required for speed up, run down etc.

surely there are a 100 places that have the surface, angles and wind that this could have been done then? as such a sparse country there must be some airports that fit the criteria

why pick the one that had a chance of being under water if the wind requirement was so low, or was that not simulated?
