I think this refers to the Tesla Model Y's structural battery pack. I don't know that it applies to any other EV.One of the reasons we've held off on an EV. Insurance premium would more than double.

I read a story (thought I posted it in this thread) about a shitload of low mileage EVs being totaled and scrapped, for just this reason.
The structural battery pack takes unibody construction a little further and reduces weight by about 15%. I haven't heard about scratched EV battery packs or high insurance on the Tesla and EV forums I follow which are mostly Teslarati and teslamotorsclub.com.
However, I do have a dog in this fight because I'm sorta kinda in the market and I'm NOT going to buy a Y until I figure this out. Luckily, I have a rather nice S and so there's no hurry. I am looking at other EVs as well.
