So, you seem to be saying that if people do not gather and spread covid, it will spread anyway? Does it go thru walls? Is it magic? Is it the stigma of God's disfavor?

You might be able to live in your secluded bubble with food delivered to your door but a large proportion of the population can't. Some of the people who can't produce the food and deliver it to your door.

So your theory and the lockdown theory is that if you isolate everyone for a period of time the virus will die because it has no human host. But you forget that it has been found in other mammalian hosts. You also overlook that it is difficult to determine how long the lockdown should be to eliminate the virus.

For many reasons lockdowns fail.

Ah, so here's a welcome note of reality. You seem to be acknowledging that if PEOPLE DON"T SPREAD THE VIRUS, THE VIRUS DOES NOT SPREAD. But then you can't bring yourself to face facts and start spewing bullshit again.

Therefor lockdowns -would- work, if people like you and your dumbass elk took it seriously instead of prancing around screeching DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO like spoiled 6 year olds. That's the main reason lockdowns fail, here in the USA.

Science like politics can be local. There are still (few I hope) folks that believe the earth is flat.

On the other hand it becoming clear that a majority (far from a few) of people see covidiocy (lock-downs, masks, mandates, etc..) as worse than covid itself. Even in China where the population likely has one of the highest mortality risks from covid, its viewed as a low enough risk that folks just don't care.

But really, comparing China "lockdowns" where people burn to death in their apartment buildings with "faux US lockdowns" where your favorite tattoo parlor shut for a couple of months and you had to drink outdoors isn't very accurate.

That appears to be a misconception. I do not need to live exactly as you do to experience life.

With proper precautions, I can do everything I've ever normally done. From going up North to swim in waterfalls and ride 4 wheelers, to having Thanksgiving with the family. But for the sake of my elderly grandfather whom I am caregiver for, I will take those precautions. Including avoid large gatherings and wearing a mask when I'm out. Regardless of anti-science rhetoric.

Two weeks ago I attended a cross-country running celebration for the local high school team. I was able to attend while maintaining my necessary distance. Masks were worn. No one complained.

What China did wrong:
1) Developed an in-house vaccine that doesn't work well
2) In the face of overwhelming viral spread, decided to use severe lockdowns to control the spread - these lockdowns are far worse than any we had in North America, or really anywhere.
3) The severe lockdowns failed to ensure that people were provided for in terms of food, etc.

While you like to lump all "lockdowns" together, the pre-vaccine lockdowns here saved a lot of lives. They were lifted when effective vaccines became available. And that is the point. China is still in the pre-vaccine stage, and not only that, they are going about their lockdowns in the wrong way.

2- the USA has among the worst record in the developed world... IIRC we were worst per-capita covid death rate in the G-20 by a lot. Meanwhile Sweden is below average.
