Ford Europe paid for the development. Cosworth did all the work! Not anything wrong with that. It was a great engine. I think it will be good for the Ford name to be back in F1. I hope that it’s successful! I just wonder what happened to the Porsche deal. I imagine we’ll hear the details in the coming years. the Audi/Sauber deal sounds very interesting. I speculate that Peter Sauber probably doesn’t have too much time remaining on this planet, but what a trip it has been!

I read somewhere that Porsche is going to be working on a replacement eco-friendly fuel for ICEs to run in their cars so as to allow their continued use (which would be totally rad - stupid EVs) maybe they didn't want to get bogged down by F1 dictates of thinking inside the F1 box

I can't help but think Redbull will have paid less for the team when they bought it off Ford than what Ford will be paying in sponsorship.

I think RB paid $1 for it and Ford are coming in for 8yrs @ $30M a year for naming rights!

And now wondering how they can produce a competitive car from scratch, or whose existing platform they will co-opt/purchase?

The RT article is a year old, it says they could race in ‘ ’24 which obviously they cannot, if it happens it will be ‘26..
Haas and Williams have told MA that they are not for sale so he has to build his own car and do an engine deal, which GM/Caddy cannot do..rumor is he has a deal with Renault although Honda is probably available to him now, all he has to do is talk the teams into to letting him get to the trough…
He’s pissed off most of them by calling them greedy cunts so that might be a bit of an ask..

They were pretty fast at the end of last season, so def. a contender, imo.

My predictions for 2023.... anyone else what to play?

Drivers
1. Max but not as dominant as last year
2,3. Lewis and George (can't split them). Both will win races on tracks that suit them more than Max or where Max has Issues. Sharing the points will mean neither puts up a strong fight for the championship.
4. Charles, will be lining on scraps this year
5. Sergio, if he isn't firmly in the top 5 come summer he may have trouble keeping Nyck out of his seat.
6. Lando. Needs to get out fast in the first half of the year before Oscar settles in and needs to dominate Oscar for the next 2 years to keep big 3 interested when Mclaren continue to max out around 4th.
7. Carlos, Charles will stop him getting good points on tracks that suit them so will be stuck in the pack score wise.
8-9. Ocon and Gasly with Ocon needing a stronger start to the season to hold off Gasly
10. Oscar, a slowish start may stop him being further up the table.
11. Bottas. Alfa benefited from starting 2022 development early last year but won't have that leg up this year.
12. Nyck. The most experienced "rookie" to enter F1 in years and I think it will be the car holding him back not the other way around. will be aware that RB don't have much in the pipeline at present and will want to put his hand up to partner with Max ASAP.
13. Alonso, doesn't matter how good he thinks he is, its still an Aston Martin
14. Tsunoda, will be his last year in F1 and redbull no longer have a long team reason to keep Honda interested.
15. Albon, will pick up points here and there but no one expects Williams to rock the world.
16. Guanyu, the Alfa won't have the pace to force itself out of the midpack which will make it hard to gather points.
17. Stroll. nothing to see here..
18-19. Magnussan and Hulkenberg.... Yep!
20. Sargeant, 4th place in F2 driving a Williams...

It’s on live at F1TV with all the regular Sky commentators and the option on the F1 crew.
If you haven’t tried it you can do a monthly subscription which will get you all of testing and the race for about $4…

Anyone willing to jump to any conclusions based on 2 days of testing?

Very slow start for McLaren who in recent years haven't left much on the table in early testing....so if they're taking it slow its a new policy, guess we'll find out tonight/ next week.

AM and AR always come out swinging and Alonso only has one mode so not a surprise to see them higher than expected.

I think anyone who can draw a conclusion from the first two days is kidding themselves, no one is showing anything yet except maybe Alonso with a couple softie, banzai laps in the cool of the evening.

Having said that! Max looks pretty confidant with what they’ve got and I like the look off the Ferrari jib…

I don’t think we will know where everyone is at until next Sunday evening.

It’s as good as expected but it seems to be a bit less gritty than before. Maybe just me.
