Edmond de Rothschild looks pretty comfortable to me. Only another 5 hours and a relaxing beer!

Multihulls can't sail to weather !

This race is becoming a beatdown of Chuck Norris proportions.

Only four boats had to beat to the Fastnet rock; 3 Ultims: Edmond de Rothschild, Sodebo, Actual and the Mod70 Argo.

All the other boats are STILL on a fetch. Rambler88 figured it out first to head north of the TSS.

This morning at 08:30 UTC, I pondered the question if Edmond de Rothschild, currently sitting on 35 knots, could finish before sunset.

It's gonna be close, but all of you owe me a beer.

ps hell of a race for Apivia !

Looks like Project Rescue Ocean/Axel Trehin (Class 40) has dropped their rig. Pics show the rig mostly intact, like the forestay broke and it fell back. Small benefit of a deck stepped rig

Where are the TP52s? They regularlly win most of the offshore events, yet I only see one IRC52 (Tala) sailing. Yes, no foils, but still some of the fastest boats around. just seems odd.

I guess people aren’t really sailing TP52s in Europe much anymore

Its nice to see Stormvogel, the 1961 Line Honours winner giving it a good go.

Currently lying 43rd in the monohull fleet, she is celebrating her win of 60 years ago.

At 74 ft she was one of the first line honours specialists to be launched back in 1961. Designed by a partnership between van de Stadt, Laurent Giles and Illingworth, built in moulded timber, a lightweight flyer way ahead of its time, for Dutch plywood tycoon, Kees Bruynzeel.

I wonder if any of the current fleet chasing a first to finish will still be sailing in 60 years from today.

Particularly impressive that the guys on Apivia have time while doublehanding at that pace to post on social media.  I'd have guessed they're working hard every moment they aren't sleeping.

Can the doublehanded boats use autopilot?  I took a quick glance through the NOR and SI and didn't see anything about it.

Are Alex/Hugo Boss even relevant anymore.  I would have thought, given their time in the shed and long lay off after Vendee, that she would be making a better showing, but I must not be up on the latest.
