interesting that there is now an autopilot. interesting because that it the one obvious crew role for females to get into and it's been replaced by a robot.
Ride height control..old stuff. Was first introduced in AC 34 and no one batted an eye.

“We think it’s very cool, and we will have a decent base fleet sailing pretty quickly once the boats are built,” Team New Zealand CEO Grant Dalton told Stuff, hoping the production can be handled in the New Zealand boat-building industry, led by the syndicate’s own world-class yard.

“They will be incredibly fast. Our test boat Te Kahu was incredibly fast, it wasn’t as quick as an AC75, but it wasn’t a lot different. It’s just the power ratio, but its acceleration will be similar.

“We want to make it a multipurpose boat. This has the ability to trickle down to Wednesday night racing.”

For Wednesday night racing. FFS. He's lost the plot.

Flight controller is (will be was?) a role in SGP and one that the only woman ever to have raced in an F50 regatta had. Marie Riou.

well sort of, that's what they're calling it, but not really as it is more like the youth america's cup with just different crew criteria.

Yes and one thing we know from Wimbledon...the ladies' trophy will be much smaller than the "real" one.

Helm, wing trimmer, flight controller...all not requiring beefcake or Olympic cyclists.

What are the four crew positions on the AC40?

Driver, smart guy (tactician), wing trimmer, IT support?

Two drivers probably, much safer to stay enclosed.

Aren’t boats being built by McConaghy in China?

We have a trade deal with both Aus and China so it's sort of built in NZ.

So much for the rumours that these series were canned. Good.
The switch from the previously-reported (in Spanish media) dates from August to during the CSS in late September instead suggests that the YAC and WAC events will be less stand-alone than originally envisioned, more of a sideshow instead. Good chance this was the result of a compromise with the Challs, to keep it on track.

But yes, good that it will happen, could still be a lot of fun although my preference would be that they could race the upgraded AC40s that teams will undoubtedly up-kit.
