It's crazy to think how wide open Group C is. Any of them could Advance at this point. These games will hopefully be top notch. They should beAustralia 1 x Denmark 0

What was that!?!?!
Great day so far. And it' s going to get better. Much better...![]()
Mexico might have tried scoring a goal before their game today if they wanted to stay in. The whole group played like s***. Poland looks like trash. Argentina looks uninspiredSo Mexico loses out moving up to the next round to Poland by goal differential. Think there are some unhappy people south of the US border?
Yes that was good.Wow. Must admit I didn't think we'd do it but huge kudos to the Socceroos to beat Denmark this morning to go through to Round of 16 to meet Argentina.
Well done Socceroos
I did not know that Jim Carrey played football.
That group was intriguing right up to the last few minutes because with 3 minutes to go Mexico was up 2-0 v Saudi Arabia and Argentina were up 2-0 v Poland. If it stayed that way then Poland & Mexico would've finished on same points, same goal difference and same number of goals scored and conceded. If it finished on that scoreline then it came down to who hd the lest yellow cards. Poland was on 5 and Mexico on 7 so Poland would've gone through...but then Saudi scored late goal and Poland go through on goal difference. So Mexico loses out moving up to the next round to Poland by goal differential. Think there are some unhappy people south of the US border?
But if you don't take your chances at this level then you get hurt. Matt Leckie took his chance and the rest is history.Yes that was good.
However I thought Denmark were unlucky, more than a couple of balls just missed their mark and the passing skills looked sharper than Australia's to me.
Intersesting approach. So if the women win another World Cup, will their payout still be way smaller than what the men receive just for getting to the knockout round? And then that gets split with the men? It's an odd approach to pay equity... I would have thought the better approach would be to equalize the payouts (and not split them), so that both teams have equal opportunity to earn based on their individual achievements. Although I guess that depends on who controls the payouts... If it's FIFA, not US Soccer, then I guess an approach like this is the only way within US control for equal pay to be achieved. It's just weird that the women can get a lot more by rooting for the men than by winning it themselves. To right a long existing wrong, the Men’s and Women’s National teams entered into an equal pay agreement. Yesterday, the men’s team received $13 million for the win over Iran. According to the agreement, this pay is divided equally between the two teams. Thus, the Women’s team received more pay yesterday ($6.5 million) than they received for winning the World Cup in 2015 ($2 million) and 2019 ($4 million) - combined.
Thereby demonstrating the need for this agreement.
