FIFA world cup 2022

Intersesting approach. So if the women win another World Cup, will their payout still be way smaller than what the men receive just for getting to the knockout round? And then that gets split with the men? It's an odd approach to pay equity... I would have thought the better approach would be to equalize the payouts (and not split them), so that both teams have equal opportunity to earn based on their individual achievements. Although I guess that depends on who controls the payouts... If it's FIFA, not US Soccer, then I guess an approach like this is the only way within US control for equal pay to be achieved. It's just weird that the women can get a lot more by rooting for the men than by winning it themselves.
As I understand it, that's the deal.

Trending on Twitter Brazil in the last hours: "O 7x1" (The 7x1), "Alemanha" (Germany) and "MEU DEUS DO CÉU" (MY GOD IN HEAVEN), all about this game. :ROFLMAO:

And then it all changed again. Spain still in it. Germany going home.
Yeah another nailbiting end to two group's final round matches.

First up Group F with Lukaku having numerous chances in the 2nd half and just not being able to get one in...Belgium only needed one to get past Croatia. That loss v Morocco was a big blow. And well done Morocco for topping the group.

And then Group E also going to the wire with Germany doing enough v Costa Rica but relying on Spain to score a late goal v Japan to draw that match but Spain had nothing...or not much. And congrats to Japan for topping that group.

Great to see Australia, Morocco & Japan progress to knockout stages at expense of European powerhouses Denmark, Belgium & Germany.

"Where has the Dutch football school gone?" Degryse wrote in Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws. "What happened to Orange (the team's nickname and jersey color) as an advertisement for football? What I saw now was pure ‘result' football.

"Louis van Gaal thinks we all still believe in (Santa Claus). He tries to make us believe that the Netherlands can become world champion. Not really, mind you. They are without shine."

Belgian rumours for LvG, flu in camp, media flaming away @ home - just another day with the Dutch.

We need to press high, make van Dijk work hard and hope for a mistake. I see 1-1 and the Dutch going thru on penalties.

Had never heard of Aboubakar before that match. Great goal though. Pity about the red card afterwards but the ref had no option to give 2nd yellow.

Another couple of surprise results overnight with South Korea beating Portugal and Cameroon beating the 2nd Brazil team.

So 3 Asian teams in the knockout stage, 2 African, 1 Nth American only 2 Sth American and the rest European. I think it's great that there are 5 teams from the two "weaker" conferences in Asia & Africa. But it'll still probably come down to either Brazil or Argentina v France or Spain (although Morocco might be the dark horse to beat Spain then Portugal or Switzerland).

I see there was a bit of argy bargy by the Uruguayans after the Uruguay v Ghana match and quite a bit of niggle during and after the Switzerland v Serbia match by the Serbians.

Always happy to see the teams that display bad culture, lose. But something in me wants to see them totally lose the plot, to give them a reason to riot.
