As I understand it, that's the deal.Intersesting approach. So if the women win another World Cup, will their payout still be way smaller than what the men receive just for getting to the knockout round? And then that gets split with the men? It's an odd approach to pay equity... I would have thought the better approach would be to equalize the payouts (and not split them), so that both teams have equal opportunity to earn based on their individual achievements. Although I guess that depends on who controls the payouts... If it's FIFA, not US Soccer, then I guess an approach like this is the only way within US control for equal pay to be achieved. It's just weird that the women can get a lot more by rooting for the men than by winning it themselves.
