I'm still shaking off yet another hangover. Spent some time with the team from Melges 32 Savannah - these are all Atlantic sailors (a 30-something wooden boat designed in the '20s) and they chartered a melges 32 for their first ever sportboat one-design regatta. It's a great story, and the queen bee of the team is a very cool chick. She made her massive Feadship available to the Anarchists last night for some hard-drinking.

It's like candyland down here.

This is an interview with Bill O'Malley, head of Farr Yacht Sales, our sponsor for the day. Bill's cool as shit, as passionate about sailing as anyone, and he talks honestly with us here about a bunch of different topics including the upcoming Volvo, international yacht sales, and more. This is the last interview that I will embed, the rest will be linked in the usual way. Sorry for the slurring.

Request to all photogs:

Please somebody get a great shot of Melges 32 Bliksem. One good reason is that the crew is all college sailors. Main reason however is that my son's on board and his Grandmother has never seen him sail. She wants to know why he is goofing off in Florida and not in class!

Enjoying the coverage.

Thanks

Glen

No problem Glen. Mer is actually laying on the bed next to me, naked as a jaybird, getting her photos from yesterday up in a gallery. We'll see if we can get something good of your boy.

Part 2 of the Classe Mini interview with Jesse Rowse is now up. Check this dude out - if we've got a future star in open sailing, it might just be JR.

Thanks again to Farr Yacht Sales and Farr Yacht Design for making today's race coverage possible. I am uploading a 13-minute interview with Bill O'Malley from Farr about all sorts of cool shit, including just how many people in Farr's offices are reading Anarchy during the day...

Our plan is to catch the first Div 1 start today and watch the entire race, then go over to IRC 1 for some glamour shots of our pals and the big monsters. Speaking of pals, I saw Rob and Peter Greenhalgh last night, they're friends through my sister's boyfriend back in the UK, and Rob told me they landed three massive wahoo on Wednesday when they chartered a fishing boat in Key West. Rob has lost 20 kilos (44 lbs) since I first met him in Baltimore during the VOR stopover, so I teased him a little about his next comment, "You could reel in as hard as you wanted and not budge the thing," he said.

FYI for you non-tropical folks, wahoo is one of the hardest-fighting fish on the planet, sometimes running at 30+mph. Damned tasty, too.

before I head to work, I'd like to thank all of you for making this week a sucess!!! Clean, you're commentary is one of a kind AND you should be proud . Mer, GREAT pics ( ps...if you happen to get a good pic of Just Plain Nutz(M30) , I'd be much appreciated. Vegas, thank you your on the water work......

These are one of the few things in life as a teacher that I really HATE. I guess I have 10 years to practice (before retirement) before I can participate.

Speaking of pals, gotta give it up for my bud Denis Blume of Orange Beach Alabama sailing on the Columbia 32. Denis has never missed a KWRW sailing in every regatta. 1988 was it?

Cool guy and a snappy dresser.

Here's the deal on this one, folks: Take two minutes and click on both logos at the top of this screen. There are short registration pages for you at those links. Now, I know getting Anarchists to register something is about as easy as planing in a J/105, but just do it for us. They won't spam you with anything besides news and announcements of Farr stuff, as well as special notices of events/parties/whatever that are of appeal to Anarchists.

Help us out, and we'll be back on the water in Miami. Or don't, and you can go back to watching results 2 hours after racing. ;)

The story of the day is going to be the Farr 40's for sure. T Hutch is rocking so hard, though Mescalzone would be way on top if not for a nasty OCS yesterday when they were sandwiched after the start and couldn't go back.

Can someone let me know which classes have throwouts after 7 races? That's going to change the standings completely around.

Scratch what I said earlier - EVERYTHING is the story of the day. It's too bad we don't have two big boats.

17.1 For the Farr 40, J/105, M 30, and Swan 42 Classes only, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores without exclusion. For all other classes, a boat’s worst score will be excluded from her series score if seven or more races have been completed subject to rule 89.3( B) .

Thanks dacapo. So Melges 24, 32 get the throwout after race 7, which we will definitely have. I have it on good authority that the RC will be using a "sticky" anemometer to make sure the 25 knot class wind limit isn't reached. If you break something today, it just means more cash for Melges and some work for poor boat bitches like me :)

Congrats to Mark Ivey and Simon Strauss for pulling it back together yesterday after that clusterfuck on Tuesday - They got a 6,6 yesterday and when the OCS gets dropped, they're right in the hunt for a top ten finish. They'll be missing my trimming today though - in 20 knots, the bigger the better, and trimmer Matt York just don't have my guns.

Touch it.
