I knew Trump was a career conman grifter well before he ran for POTUS, the GOP knew he was as well UNTIL they saw the power he had gathered. FWIW his early success was due to his rallies promising to fix those who were left behind by the trickle down, money market managing economy - try and watch the Frontline "Age of Easy Money" , it's only a small part but is accurate.

So Trumpers are a cult who want to believe he will fix it and refuse to accept anything other than that. He only cares about himself and will say and do anything to get money and support.
Which brings me to this level:

Best guess is the Dear Leader's plane has been readied in case that protest actually happens so he might join it in a hurry. Trump made a huge deal about giving a tax break to the middle class, then did the opposite by giving a huge tax break to the one percenters and their Corporate butt buddies. Yet the faithful still believe his lies, and kiss his ass and blame Democrats for doing what Trump did to them instead!
