IMHO the election of Trump, after Obama, is proof of how strong (and how stupid) racism is in the USA. There are a bunch of converging smaller reasons why Trump succeeded... the increasing fantasy bubble of "conservatism" in the USA, the increasing right-wing media influence on normalizing hatred for liberals and Democrats, the incessant lobbying of the 0.1%ers for their corporations to increasingly control everything... but the #1 reason is that all the people in this country who just hated the idea that a black man could ever be considered President were inflamed by Obama and ready to throw the country out the window.
Prior to 2016, I never heard anybody ever express an opinion of Donald Trump that wasn't along the lines of born-rich blowhard egotist lying crook.
