Do you think they will attempt to try Trump as an adult? Serious question
The Pride of New York will NOT be mocked. He works way too hard on his makeup for anyone to mock him.

And now for all the other indictments that he deserves:

Georgia election rigging.
Withholding destroying and hiding classified information.
Tax evasion.
Multiple obstructions of justice.
Gross abuse of office.
Incitement and sedition.

…… to start with.
Incest,

Republicans voted for Trump in the primaries - I completely agree with your insight. And, he managed a plurality in many primaries.

nothing to do with Hillary - I differ with you on this point. I think Biden or [Fill in a Name] would have crushed Trump in the 2016 general election sufficiently to win. Unfortunately, Biden was in mourning.

I think a lot of Republicans voted for Trump in the 2016 primaries because he "says what they're thinking." They are not overtly racist, but they're uncomfortable with equality and civil rights and prefer a rigid social heirarchy even if it puts themselves one rung above the bottom, even if it comes along with severe economic and social mobility penalties. Plus, as has been said already, a lot of Nazis and KKK'ers came flocking out of the woodwork to vote for him.

As for why Biden did not run, yes his son had recently died but his son was terminally ill and had been urging him to run. IMHO Hillary cut a deal with the DNC to pull the rug out from under Biden and like the old-time back-room deal-maker he is, he accepted gracefully. Hillary also ran a piss-poor campaign managed by over-the-hill cronies from the 1990s. I held my nose and voted for her, but I know a lot of people (including lot of liberal women) who did not.

So the polling coming out now says that the indictment has made Trump, already the most popular Republican primary candidate by far, even more popular. This popularity has nothing to do with Hillary or Biden or events or policies. It's just that Trump is their boy, their id, and he gives them what they want, own the libs entertainment. Again, he lets them come out of the closet and be who they really are. None of this dull facty fact policy drudge work. Boring. He lets them let their freak fascist flag fly.

I don't think Republicans now are any different than they were in 2016. They are the same people. They have learned nothing. Their decision making is the same.

Now, their rationalizations? Those vary over time. In the 50s it was Communists! and now they love Putin. Hillary in 2016 was just a rationalization at the time for the deplorables doing what they wanted to do anyways. Seriously, these people are bonkers gun obsessed nutjobs with victim complexes who wouldn't even take a jab in the arm to save their lives.

They're just nuts. This is the populism the founders were worried about.

I suspect the big fun will be when Trump starts bad-mouthing the judge on social media and the judge puts a gag order on him for it. Seems likely to happen. And it seems fairly likely Trump will refuse to obey it.
Trump is going to be this year's Easter martyr.

So, the folks who already supported him, are even more fanatical in that support. Unless the election weights votes more because they REALLY like the candidate....

The question is "Will he pull any independents?" My thought is "No."

It also means that the Latter Day Never Trumpers are now coming home to Republican Jesus. Y'all notice how our local elk population has gone all silent. But I still think he loses handily.
