Plywood is the "Go to" storm shutter material to protect glass from flying debris during hurricanes.  .

I gotta admit, w/all the years Dad & I put in at Owl's Creek to go fishing, I never went up into Lake Wesley.   What services do they have there?  He lived down General Booth about 2 miles ( near Strawbridge ) so we'd put in at Owl's Creek and go out Rudee - or go up to the ramp @ Seashore State park if we were going out on the Bay Bridge tunnel.

The Virginia Beach Fishing Center has the marina there on the end of Southside Rd., just outside the bridge. It was built by Wayne McLeskey before he died and the Fishing Center took it over some years ago. It's where the boats too big to go under the bridge and sailboats dock. Most sailboaters end up just anchoring in Lake Wesley though. To ramp launch a power boat, you have to go to Owl's Creek though, no ramps on the outside.

If you look at this shot, the satellite docks are the gold star on the right, just outside bridge.

Fun Fact: The hailing port for all of our sailboats is Lake Wesley.

No, no. The plywood is to protect against flying debris, not looters.

The "No Trespassing" signs are to inform passers-by that the building is not "abandoned" just because it's boarded up, and to stay off of the property.  No, the plywood nor the signs keep out determined looters and thieves, but they may satisfy an insurance requirement that the owners take "reasonable precautions" to protect the property, and make filing a claim and obtaining the payout less onerous.

Left Boston after the Newport Boat Show and there was a local new piece about a couple of Chinese sisters in Chinatown with a restaurant that has SPAM FRIES as their speciality. The place is called DOUBLE CHIN (their last name) and here is the delicacy. Wish I had taken time to stop in but found what may be the best Italian restaurant ever over close to the airport.

I believe Waffle House employs hot shot like crews to go into disaster areas and get food going for recovery efforts so local employees can focus on sorting their own life out.
