From The Guardian newspaper: Stranded at sea: amateur female sailors speak of sexual abuse by captains they met online

We’re talking about different situations. I was referring to the girl who met the guy in an airport and agreed to accept an all expense paid trip to fly half way around the world and spend a week sailing the Greek islands on a chartered boat with the guy.
Yes. According to you, he didn't need to tell her that fucking was the price of the ticket. Begs the question: If everyone knows what is intended, why wouldn't he just say it, hmmm?

Both of us have daughters.
Mine has been doing jiujitsu for 2 years and starts wrestling in the spring.

She's already good with a bow and arrow, has practiced with a mace sprayer, and is excited to learn to shoot a rifle after her 8th birthday this summer. I will teach her about the right to self-defense and what "a reasonable fear of imminent bodily harm" means at some point after that.

In my estimation, somewhere between 5 and 15% of men are animals and/or criminals, with such traits sometimes fully hidden behind charm or nerdiness until solitude and/or substances light it all up.

Fathers have a responsibility to teach their girls how to kill and when.

Check the year Tootsie was produced and get back to me
So you honestly think in some alternate universe people go into a bar and say "I am buying you a drink in hopes you will have sex with me tonight" as their first interaction? It has been so long since I was in bars doing that maybe they do
I REALLY hope my wife outlives me, I would have to go to some dating class for sure.
"Sex is not a condition of you riding in my car to the yacht club, but I may propose having intercourse later. Transportation in my car is not conditional on sexual performance or lack of it, with the possible exception of some over-exertion that renders me unable to drive a car"

I think one of the most important lessons to teach is that you should expect people to respect your bodily autonomy. When you're four, I don't care if it's a stranger or if it's Aunt Suzie, who adores you, looking to hug you when you don't want to be hugged, you should know that I, your father, or any other reasonable adult in this world, should be expected to back you up when you say "no".

I distinctly remember when my now adult daughter was three, we ran into a co-worker, a friend, who had grandkids her age. In the enthusiasm of the greeting, he scooped her up. She said, firmly, "put me down!" And I said, clearly but without aggression, "Tim, put her down." Which he did. No harm, no foul, we went on to lunch and she warmed up to him. But I still feel that that was an important lesson for her.

Straw man. In real life, the reason you ask for consent is to avoid misunderstandings, which, in a sexual context, can mean a rape or assault charge.

You don't have to discuss sex unless you are trying to make it a condition of the ride. If you don't say it, the risk is on you.

Very astute. We taught mine, and then had to teach her that it applied to her too (she likes giving big hugs and picking up her friends in the air)

It's funny how not-obvious it is that "hey, some people might not like it very much when you do that, eh?"

It must be nice to live in such a civilized and safe place! Make sure she knows that it is not like this everywhere.

12/09/2022 - Snipppets:

An new study conducted this year by Ipec and the Patrícia Galvão Institute, with support from Uber, and obtained exclusively by g1 and Jornal Hoje, reveals that 45% of women in Brazil have had their body touched without consent in a public place, but only 5% of men admit to the practice.

The study also found that in relation to invasive practices - stalking and sexual harassment - 41% of Brazilian women have experienced cursing or assault for saying "no" to a person who was interested in them, 32% of them said they had experienced sexual harassment in public transportation, and 31% said they had experienced attempted or actual sexual abuse.

Psychologist Alexandre Coimbra says that most men in Brazil do not know what sexual harassment is.

A total of 1,200 people were interviewed throughout Brazil (800 men and 400 women).

I was at a music festival, walking out of the tent when the guy near me grabbed the arse of one of the women in front. Shocked she made the best of it and shrugged it off.

Me: 'Easy mate, WTF?"

Him: "They fucking love it!"

How have I not heard of that movie?

Google'd it and found this funni part in wiki ...

"In January 2010, an uncensored preview clip of the film was attacked by family advocacy groups for its display of violence and use of the line "Okay, you cunts, let's see what you can do now," delivered by Chloë Grace Moretz, who was 12 years old at the time of filming. Australian Family Association spokesman John Morrissey said that "the language [was] offensive and the values inappropriate; without the saving grace of the bloodless victory of traditional superheroes".[35]"

How ironic can you get!

An experienced female sailor educated me on this subject.

I had a women crew for me for a while. After she moved on I found out that she had a reputation for promiscuity.

This experienced sailor women asked me about her (this other women) time on my boat. I didn't 'get' where the conversation was going and I said so.

She asked me if I had ever heard of the term 'Captains Choice'. I had not, I blamed that on coming from dinghy, off the beach cat world. So she told me that experienced females were aware that Captains, (in the power imbalance), believed that they had the choice of who to fuck!

The knowledge can be used by women for good or for evil. Some don't understand that, yet.
