that's depressing, but it tracks with my experience throughout latin america. Macho is a disease.
Things are at least moving in the right direction here, so there is hope.
Lots of good role models on daily life. Like on the police force.
This was in the town adjoined to mine: a lone policewoman, still dressed as a princess, leaving a school where she had just performed a theater play for young children, teaching about traffic safety and traffic laws. She sees a robbery right in front of her, on the sidewalk. She, alone, unarmed and still dressed as a princess, arrests the bandit - and someone manages to take this fantastic picture:
The photo and story made it to the local and national news, very entertaining of course, but I'm sure it also made some positive impact on the minds of our children, girls and boys.
And our heroic princess cop got her well-deserved 15 minutes.
We have also elected a woman president. And impeached her.
