One of my favourite stories was a newspaper article decades ago about a nurse who was attacked by a creep in the early hours after her shift.

She was heading home across the "campus" of VGH when he attacked her.

Big mistake - she was a martial arts expert and seriously kicked his ass. Then she dragged him into emergency and called the cops while her colleagues patched him up.

I would love to see stories like that routinely. Maybe there would be fewer Incel rapists around.

Well if he did mean that women in Sailing Anarchy are more likely to be raped I disagree. Insulted, offended even outraged at times but not raped. However what risk they put themselves at unrelated to here is a different matter altogether. The case of male skipper looking for female victims and the case of male skipper looking for male victims both share the obvious power imbalance of skipper and crew, but the latter former adds all the many layers of inherent, structural power imbalance that come from gender. In either case you are in a confined area with no way out with someone who wants to fuck you. Assuming you don't also feel that way, this is a total nightmare scenario in some ways much worse than having a bad cellmate at the local jail. You could just vanish at sea and no one could ever prove a thing, at least your roomie in cell block 6 will get busted if he or she kills you. "I have no idea how this dead person got into my locked cell" worked as a defense in no court ever
