But on a serious note, why don't these creeps just go on to something like Tinder, MatchMe, 'Lonley single chicks .com' or 'Meet and fuck big titted sluts [email protected]'?

I have never done it but can't they just put up and add like...
Single Guy with Yacht wants to meet girl who will sail away with me and be my fuck toy. Free rent and cocktails.
Send nude pics.

Cap'nblueballs.

Get to the point. I am sure he will find what he is looking for if he casts his net wide enough.

It's a goddamned kickass movie ;)
I was going to pull the trigger on Apple TV, but saw a couple of youtube shorts that, well, made me wonder if this is just another pro-gun thing.

The part where the father is asking daughter about detailed knowledge of guns and their heritage, including the AR-15, isn't a good look. Given things since then, hasn't dated well.

Then saw this today ...

Jim Carrey condemns violence in his own movie Kick-Ass 2

Jim Carrey has shocked producers of forthcoming comic-book sequel Kick-Ass 2, in which he stars as a baseball-bat-wielding masked crimefighter, after denouncing the "level of violence" that permeates the film in the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings.

Carrey, who has been an outspoken proponent of increased gun control in the wake of the shootings by gunman Adam Lanza in December, tweeted on Sunday that he could no longer support the film. He wrote: "I did Kick-Ass 2 a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies to others involve[d] with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart."

Give your opinion.. or not... I'm not registered for Vendée Globe 2024, nor mother... But the problem is so much larger than motherhood in the veil.
38 years old. It took me 38 years to figure it out, and begin to grasp the extent of the problem.
So obsessed with being "the daughter of" that I didn't even see the problem with being a woman in the veil.
I thought that if a woman wants to sail, she sails. We have so much character, so much will, that if we want something, we get it. At worst we will move 2,3 mountains, but we will get it.
Blind. I was deaf and blind And a few years ago, I started opening up, other women came to share their journey, and I opened my eyes to my own experience.
At 38, I'm captain of a maxi of 22 meters, and a crew of 25 people. Currently in the Antilles arch to run the Caribbean 600, at the time of customs control, 2 out of 3 times I have to convince the customs officer that I am the captain, and the owner. Same in metropolis, whether it's in Parisian saloons or elsewhere. "You're the captain but who's really in charge?" "Usually, a flame thrower pours out of my eyes.
I stopped counting the jokes of some vendors, who clearly would never have had this type of attitude with a 50 year old man. But I'm used to this, the horse world is not sweeter with us.
And so many anecdotes :
I would shut up the name of the IMOCA partner currently racing the Ocean Race who had a good looking girl with a big Instagram community on board instead of another more competent surfer. Yes. 2023 is here. By 2023, we have to put women's quotas in racing. (Obligation to include a woman on the team) Results: the Paprec double deck deck (ex Deck AG2R) barely has more than 4 boats and many Ocean Race crew members were recruited at the last minute.
For the media we have to smile, be beautiful, bright, open, radiant, real champagne bubbles. Yet Francis Joyon, or Yves le Blevec, is never asked for this kind of attitude, who they, have the right to have "a real sailor's mouth blown by the wind". Yet we're all sailors, so with common DNA and often a damn character. But it's also what makes us run on water, that we have the strength to come back down make projects, why not even start a family, and leave again.
So women are being used, for marketing blows, for their "freshness" (Guess who's dedicated Grand Prix Sports Strategies in 2021?! after their athlete snagged a 12th place at the Globe Vendée? ) I'm not even talking about places where athletes' bodies are exposed, like surfing and where sponsors prefer "beauty" over performances.
However, the veil is beautiful... Because it's an art, besides being a sport, and there are different ways to live and tell it. It is a strong, close-knit community whether it is runners, seafarers, or people who travel the world. The job of offshore runner is a magnificent profession, of rare complexity, of absolute wealth, of human value, elegance, solidarity, culture and history, of code, and above all of transmission. There are as many ways to sail as sailors, and so many oceans to cover.
But here’s the heart of the problem: to navigate, and even more so to perform, we need partner funding. And then... We'll have a few differences would we say. Let's take the example of a job advertisement: if there's a requirement that the woman applying can't do, she won't submit her resume. A man will apply without hesitation. To sell our projects, it's the same situation. I was talking from the beginning about our tenacity. But fortunately we are stubborn! Cause why does dating have to be harder for us?? Why can't we as humans be taken seriously with our differences? Why does everything have to be more complicated
Strangely enough, Pen-Duick VI's 3 major partners are women-run companies....
Times are changing, the public is hungry for narrative, authenticity, strong values, relatable content, learning from, not fabricated history. Not performance at all cost, but humanity.
It's 2023, and there are still partners who dare to say: "Engaged in the sport for 34 years, our company is committed to the values of diversity and equality of opportunity and is determined to participate in the necessary work with the various stakeholders to do so." make progress. "
Mwah... "Do what I say, not what I do." "
Sponsors, businesses, if you’re really about this fight, then you’re one with your athlete. You stand with him, you get him, you support him, you support his cause. Quit taking a risk and missing out on a Globe Vendée edition (there are so many other races on the globe, is it that bad?) ) is a story you live together. Take a step back, the world of sailing doesn't only revolve around the Vendée Globe... And then usually the winner of the Vendée Globe is rarely the only winner of the Vendae Globe, all the participants are heroes.
Because, first and foremost, the sail is a story of man and boats. And by Men, I mean all the human beings who make up the team: partners, tech team, friends, family, supporter anonymous... It's a team sport, solidarity.
So the Clarisse Gate is just the tip of the iceberg, clearly the women are not on the same level as the men in this environment I thought this fight had advanced, but the signal sent by this event is dramatic.
The slam is violent, even if priori necessary to keep the lines moving, and Clarisse will bounce back no doubt. I'm even happy she can be free to go work with people who deserve her.
Clarisse sur l'Atlantique It's time to spread your wings, shine, be proud and get back out on the water! I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us, and very confident in your future!

The case of male skipper looking for female victims and the case of male skipper looking for male victims both share the obvious power imbalance of skipper and crew, but the latter former adds all the many layers of inherent, structural power imbalance that come from gender. Yeah, the two scenarios are sort of the same, but they're also sort of different.
[edited to fix latter/former error]
You nailed it...but its the other way around.

First, we (women) have all the power in the gender imbalance.

Second, we have experience and training in how to fend off sexual advances since freshman year at college. The poor dude in that situation likely missed all the warning signs and was likely paralyzed by shock that someone was actually trying to take advantage of him. The female assumption is he is until he proves he is not.

Third, most dudes do not carry mace, pepper spray and/or a handy little sidearm in their purse.

If they are carrying a purse, it goes some way to explaining how they got into the predicament in the first place.

General male ineptitude at self defense was illustrated at an end of season get-together I arranged for the crew about 10 years ago. I thought it would be fun and different to invite the team down to the range and tear off a few rounds supervised by an instructor.

Out of 5 guys, only 1 even knew how to hold a gun properly. Two of the ladies (my sister and I) outscored everyone. Admittedly this is CT. I suspect in Texas, the men would probably hold their side up better and score a draw.

Everyone had a great time and we went out to a good dinner afterwards. The interesting bit was the aftermath. Somehow word leaked to some of the blue rinsed brigade at the YC and there was a lot of tut tutting behind my back about how "insensitive" I had been. I entirely respect that everyone has their own opinion on gun ownership and it should be a personal decision. I am a huge advocate on strengthening background checks. As a gun owner, I have donated more to Sandy Hook Promise than the zero I have given to the NRA. But......you should know how to hold a gun. If you kick the pervy skipper in the nuts and there is a gun in the chart table draw and you dont know how to use it, it is questionable or possibly better not to pick it up.

Maybe they should take flare gun training to the next level at the local safety at sea class...Billy Zane style.

That way those who wish can bypass this assault weapons training thing that seems so lacking among your average CT beer can crowd.

I have already passed. DIdn't take me long to pick the NRA finance at work.

What is it about Americans that get off on glorification of GUNZ? The continues and repeated reinforcement that gunz fix everything?

This is the basis on the Western. Always a shoot-out. I get it now and don't watch them. I leave that to rednecks and fuckwits polishing their precious.

I truly apologize if I have diverted the thread....although the general conversation was about women at sea and self defense. I don't want this to descend into PA.

In 10 years on SA, I have never previously mentioned that I am a gun owner and I have never joined any of the gun threads on GA or PA. So this will be my first and last comment on the topic. I own a hand gun, a secure gun safe, a rifle that I used many years ago in competition, and a pair of very beautiful side by side shotguns.

The shotguns were a present to me from my father in law on an anniversary. It was an incredibly touching gift. We can joke that I deserved them because I am a much better shot than his son but for anyone who knows much about the Brits and their guns, they will understand how moved I was by the message behind the gesture.

The shotguns are working guns. I don't use the rifle at all and should probably sell it. The handgun is occasional fun at the range. I dont know enough about international laws about vessels and guns but I think I would take it if we went cruising somewhere with risk of unsafe encounters. Other than that if there was a break -in, I would first call the police. Inform the intruder that I have called the police and explain in a polite and calm manner that I am armed and likely a much better shot than he is.

I don't misconstrue the intent and purpose of the 2nd amendment . I don't see any purpose for keeping assault weapons at home. It is a personal view not a political view. I could say more but I'm not going to. I do believe we should have the right to own guns. I believe there should be controls because guns are dangerous and should be treated with respect . Cars are dangerous. We have a driving test before we are allowed to drive a car, your identity is checked before you get a license, and if you drive drunk or dangerously, you lose the license. Please dont interpret these as political comments.

What is it about Americans that get off on glorification of GUNZ? The continues and repeated reinforcement that gunz fix everything?

You should probably take that to PA or GA. I am not a redneck or a fuckwit. I dont get off on any glorification.

So back on topic.....how do women take care of themselves if they want the same opportunities for adventure as men?

I think we are entitled to the same adventures. I especially think that young women are entitled to the same adventures as young men. So one piece of advice is to learn how to take care of yourself. Men have sooooo many vulnerable spots!.

Yep. What ever spin you put on it, you are a gun nut. If you are going to support the 2A then you really should pony up and give some of your Doctor money to the NRA. They are doing all the hevey lifting for you gun nuts, particularly in diverting attention away when children are executed every week in your country.
