Front Page - History?

One of the lines caught my attention "I am doing the same race as some guy 60 years ago, before I was born." They ,oved the finish line further out to accomidate those who didn't like the threat of too soon lagoon. I mean how many races have been won or lost in the bay? How many records were never set because the last mile was no wind? While you may be starting in the same place you are not finishing in the same place so is it the same race? It would be like saying we are going to start Transpac in Santa Barbara because it gives a better angle for the first day because nobodyu wants to sail upwind. WOuld it be the same race I don't think so. I don't disagree with the changes madee to the N2E but lets call it what it is a different race.

Yes while searching high and low for live coverage of the Sydney to Hobart a stumbled across it. I bookmarked it so I could find it again.

The starting line is now off the bluffs of Point Fermin in San Pedro at the southern edge of the City of Los Angeles. The finish is off the Diamond Head lighthouse just east of Honolulu, establishing a distance of 2,225 nautical miles.

With the Coast Line we have on the West Coast, You'd think NOSA would be looking for some US Alternatives for a nice downhill sled ride. I still say a San Luis Harbor start, out around the Channel Islands and Finish in SD for the Long Race and A shorter version around the inner islands for the Little Boats to maybe LA Harbor??

jfc trude, what can't you bitch about? ensenada so doesn't suck - when was the last time you were there? the town is pretty nice actually and it is almost always fun to hang out for a day or so.

Thanks Clean, I did not realize the titles were links. With all the share links at the end of the articles I figured that is where a URL or Permalink would reside.

Make sure you guys let others know. It must not be obvious if users are still copying articles instead of posting links to articles.

jfc trude, what can't you bitch about? ensenada so doesn't suck - when was the last time you were there? the town is pretty nice actually and it is almost always fun to hang out for a day or so.

Second, Tempesta, I should have said the New Ensenada Race Sucks.

You know I did my first Ensenada in 73' at 13 yrs old and you pretty much know that from 76' right up to my injury some 23 or 25 times ( I lost count ) I raced and ate some great Mexican food. My Favorite was getting fresh Ceviche before 7:30am and the REAL Fish Tacos. I lived in Thailand as a kid and I love eating off the little street carts.

Fast Forward to now. I get a boat and think about the Ensenada race. You know since my Injury not one boat (and I know lots of boat owners) has asked me if I want to race to Ensenada ,go figer). So now that I got a pretty fast boat, I think about the race and I find out that NOSA has changed the whole game.

OK...most of you need to think about this from my POV.

1. Getting off the boat and I understand that there are some nice Marinas in Ensenada now. So I figure I can get off the boat to a hotel with no issues (easier said than done). Hotel in Ensenada, that is another issue, but it is mine.
   
2. NOSA decides to move and now the race HQ is not in Town. Great, now I got to get from Town to Race HQ.
   
3. Are there still 18" curbs in Town? I can get off a regular curb (getting up requires help). As I recall the last time I was in Ensenada Curb Cuts were nonexistent. But that is my Issue.
   
4. I also remember going into many Restaurants. Almost all had steps because of elevation issues in building.
   
5. Did I mention that you now need passports to get back int he US after a short weekend sail to Ensenada.....unless something changed recently. I need to get my passport renewed.
   

So I still have to ask NOSA, Why not have a Long Distance Race within the US Border? History is just that, HISTORY. "Lest we forget we shall repeat the mistakes of the past". Seems like many mistakes are being made.

Challenge to Scot.

I have an older Wheelchair. In the Next Newport to Ensenada, You can use it when you get to Ensenada. You will not be allowed to use your legs except in the bathroom of a restaurant or hotel. When you get in a car to go to Race HQ, you will have to use your arms to lift your ass in or get some friends to lift you.

Also lets add, on the race, you have to scoot around and use a transfer bench on the boat, I custom made one for my Zap, only because I need it. I doubt you will like that one.

But as a final, I will donate the Wheelchair, and it a good solid chair, to some poor family in Ensenada that needs it. I'm sure that the SA Community or NOSA can find the contacts to find a needy family.

Then Tell me I'm bitchin about anything......you little fickwad.
