Sure, but it's no different from the way every other billionaire's financial business uses their political 'speech' to make it look like they're trustworthy.

Meanwhile, all the crypto bros on the planet could barely slow down the SEC/FTC and their regulation plans. Turns out banks and brokerages have a lot more political capital than the newest snake oil salesman.
My initial thought on the arrest? Don’t steal money from the banks….

It sounds like we’re cynical in slightly different ways. I would add that if you find an empty street corner and pay protection money to the right people for a couple years, you can make billions. The trick is to get out or get respectable before the field gets too crowded and some other crook brings the law down on everybody. FTX was the street hustler that shot a rich jogger and forced the cops to start paying attention, despite all the money spent diverting patrols. Now the competition needs to hide their stash or skip town. Protection money won‘t go very far when every YouTuber is streaming. It was ‘good’ while it lasted.

A former coworker refused the safe harbor and employer match last year, since crypto provided so much bang for the buck. The professional fund managers haven’t tanked nearly as well as crypto wiz kids.

If the Bahamians want to be rid of that little prick quickly they should hold him at Fox Hill. He will be begging to waive any challenges to extradition.

Sounds like that's where he is. Doesn't sound like it's a nice place. He's complaining that since he's a vegan and has ADD, and doesn't have access to his meds, that he should be released on $250,000 bail. Yeah, right! If he doesn't want rats biting his ass, he should be screaming to be expedited immediately! OOP, he can't play his video games!

The Bahamas prison where FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried is reportedly heading following his arrest was flagged by the U.S. State Department last year as having "harsh" conditions "due to overcrowding, poor nutrition [and] inadequate sanitation" along with cells "infested with rats, maggots, and insects."

A 2021 U.S. State Department report said prisoners at Fox Hill described "infrequent access to nutritious meals and long delays between daily meals."

"Maximum-security cells for men measured approximately six feet by 10 feet and held up to six persons with no mattresses or toilet facilities. Inmates removed human waste by bucket. Prisoners complained of the lack of beds and bedding," the report said. "Some inmates developed bedsores from lying on bare ground. Sanitation was a general problem, and cells were infested with rats, maggots, and insects."

"Overcrowding, poor sanitation, and inadequate access to medical care were problems in the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services men’s maximum-security block," the report added. "The facility was designed to accommodate 1,000 prisoners but was chronically overcrowded."

The Nassau Guardian newspaper said it saw the rodents firsthand during a 2019 tour, with a prison guard confirming “that rats run up and down all day, every day.”

“Dogs don’t deserve to live in the state that maximum security is in,” the officer told the paper on the condition of anonymity.

“Boy, you don’t even know. … It’s not fit for humanity,” the warden said.

Fox Hill Prison is so bad, in fact, some inmates have begged to be extradited to the US just to escape it.

In 2019, a pastor waived his right to fight extradition to Georgia — where he was ultimately sentenced to life in prison for rape and child molestation — because he feared being killed by gangs in the brutal Bahamian jail.

“Fox Hill ain’t no place for nobody to stay in … I am ready to go,” rapist Don Martin told the magistrate who approved his extradition, the Tribune reported at the time.

10 mg of adderall every four hours. No wonder he talked so much. No bail, and an extradition hearing set for February...that's a lot of time in a dangerous place.
That's not a big dose for an adult who actually has ADHD. Much better, long lasting meds like Vyvanse are out there, though.

Let me point out that for a person of means it's very easy to shop around for a doctor and that giving Adderall instead of a better medicine might indicate that the doctor was just somebody who he shopped for

The perils of basing more than just the paperwork of your fraud operations in tax havens...

I'm interested to see who else gets wrapped up in this. SBF & Co aren't sophisticated actors, but they had plenty of contact with and funding from folks that should know better. "Golly crypto is so unregulated" is getting a lot of mileage.

Toxic little fuck ain't he? destroyed life savings for reported millions of people, took his whole family down with him, etc.

Who're the dumbfucks that thought that a guy playing a video game while having a funding meeting was a good bet?

I know someone who spent some quality time in Fox Hill. White, American dude. Not a nice place. I never bet, but I would have to think long and hard about a wager on how long before he waives his challenge. Nasty, brutal place. But who knows?

the most personal adversity this little fuck has run into has been choosing which office girl to bang.
