Fuel Right diesel additive

My thought too. He's proven you can't pour something in your fuel tank that will fix anything, except dead Empty.

I put fuel additives at slightly less effective than the coin under the mast. What origin or denomination coin, what year, one or a pocket full? Has anyone tried a Visa card?

It was pretty awesome when they pulled the mast of the 1797 heavy frigate Constitution about 20 years ago and displayed the butt of the mast with the indentations from the coins that had been laid under it.

I'm old school, it used to be NMR imaging, but nuclear kills people so now its MRI. Don't let on that there are magnets in them or we'll be calling the machines RIs soon...

i found that wiping the tanks physically was the real solution, and I maintain with doses of SeaFoam, which really is essentially alcohol, if I recall. That and I am running Filter Boss systems

From the MSDS it kind of sounds like an epoxy curing agent.

FFS nuclei wiggle all the time, that's what they do.
People feel weird all the time doing all sorts of things, that's what they do. Not got anything to do with the physics of the situation tho'.

Fuel treatments will not remove growth from tank walls. Neither will polishing.

this bears repeating. You gat to reach in and wipe. Nothing else will solve. Adding filters will mean that you’ll clog them, unless you solve the basic problem.

My tanks did not have inspection ports. It was a very hellish experience for me to cut ports in, but well worth the trouble. BTW cut ovals, as that shape facilitates installation of flanges.

Once the walls are wiped, then additives help to prevent future issues.

What Max said above. Get in there and wipe them. Best additive is elbow grease. If you can’t get in there, make that your first project.

Small sailboat tanks are troublesome ..they are long and shallow , perhaps internal baffles

many times two inspection ports are needed

Yes Slug, had to put in 2 ports as there is a centre baffle across the tank. Due to all the centreline fittings, (fill, vent, sender etc) I staggered the ports, so can’t get a dipstick fitting in one of them.

If you have a dip stick hole you can use a stick with a swab on its tip to touch the bottom and wiggle a bit

Clean tanks and your filters stay clean for a very long time

Step one when I take over a new boat (or buy one) is open the fuel tanks and clean them, every time! Current boat bought at age of 9 had a half-gallon of water and a quart of sludge in each tank!

Red dye means road tax has not been paid on the fuel. It's expensive if a commercial vehicle enforcement officer dips a trucks tank and finds red. And like any dye a little goes a long way. Red dyed fuel can be boat, offroad, or heating oil.

I am definitely going to make sure the tank is opened up and cleaned out. There is an inspection plate. I never considered any other alternative other than to open the tank and verify that it is clean prior to the embarkation. I was just curious about fuel right. That is all.

Not always. I dunno the rules for any part of North America, but in the European Union and the UK, marked diesel can be used for marine propulsion only for commercial vessels.

Completely independent of resonance, some percentage of people get instant vertigo when their heads are exposed to a strong magnetic field, e.g. from an MRI machine or from some other big magnet unrelated to MRI. This is a repeatable mainstream observation, not fringe BS.
