ISTR reading he cut a new one out of his emergency rudder. 😬How did Abalish resolve his wind vane problems?
I believe I read that his chart table is all chopped up, too, to make spares.ISTR reading he cut a new one out of his emergency rudder. 😬
He tried using the door to the heads, but it wasn't up to the task. How did Abalish resolve his wind vane problems?
Looks like she is heading more north now and has the opportunity to bend a little to the west of north if she wants. You never know, she may decide to take the Moitessier approach to racing, life, the universe, and everything. Is Kirsten too far off the coast of South America? I thought traditional routing is further to the west along the coast. Will this let Tommy catch up a few miles?
The next few days are a mess for her wind wise. Stuck out there with shifting light winds would be tough to plot any kind of strategy and resultant heading.Looks like she is heading more north now and has the opportunity to bend a little to the west of north if she wants. You never know, she may decide to take the Moitessier approach to racing, life, the universe, and everything.
There is no handicap. YB tracking has had some issues, was probably got rebooted.Strange situations in the Golden Globe.

Doesn't fly with my personal opinion.
Line honours it is and the race is not over yet.
Yes and Yes.Is Kirsten too far off the coast of South America? I thought traditional routing is further to the west along the coast. Will this let Tommy catch up a few miles?
I am not so sure, VG boats normally also stay well out in the Atlantic on the way north.Yes and Yes.
She didn't sail a very smart Atlantic on the way south; It's not looking good for the voyage north. Unfortunately because I thought she would do better![]()
I think these boats are too slow to ride HP isobars. Either way going offshore avoids the northerlies and the Brazil current nearer to the coast; but also carries the risk of more variation and even getting parked up in a hole. Unless of course you head all the way over to the east side of the high.I'm not game to call it just now but that High off the southern Brasilian coast is predicted to grow to the east and join up with the band of high pressure in about 25º south. Maybe just ride 1018/1020 to the east of it. View attachment 577273
Losing your way, Schakel?Well, they do not have to complain about winds not going their way.
It's a sleigh ride.
